    Description

    Shakespeare Theatre Company seeks a Video and Graphics Associate (VGA) to join our Marketing and Communications team and help support D.C.’s premier Tony Award winning Shakespeare theatre. The VGA works closely with STC’s Graphic Designer to represent STC through graphics and videos in a way that remains on brand and maintains the quality of STC’s creative. Communication vehicles include print and web assets, videos, including commercials, trailers, behind the scenes featurettes, and more, all in support of productions and the Company. Content ranges from documentary style featurettes for Gala presentations to out-of-the-box TikTok content. The VGA will pitch video ideas, write scripts, storyboard visuals, and capture and edit the desired footage. The position also requires some graphic design work in support of the department and its full-time Graphic Designer. The recently announced 40th Anniversary Season will include Merry Wives, The Wild Duck, Guys and Dolls, On Beckett, Hamnet, and Othello featuring Wendell Pierce. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits and an annual salary of $50,000 - $53,000.

    The ideal candidate should have a portfolio that demonstrates their knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop, and a demo reel that showcases their creativity with video storytelling. The skills needed to excel in this position include good interpersonal skills, the ability to schedule logistics and stay on task, the ability to interview artists and staff on camera, as well as facility with video equipment, editing, animation, graphics integration, an eye for strong visuals, and an ear for good storytelling. Excellence with After Effects or Premiere Pro is a must; experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign is also required. A knowledge of theatre and Shakespeare is preferred, but not essential.
