    Description

    The Director of Human Resources and Administration will work closely with the President & CEO to ensure that all departments maintain focus on goal-driven initiatives to usher in the growth of the Museum of Jewish Heritage. The Director leads and enacts the strategies, policies, and protocols related to the staff and Human Resources functions, including benefits, professional development, union negotiations, and engagement. In addition, the role oversees the efficient and effective administrative functions of the Museum working in collaboration with leadership.

    Responsibilities:

    • Strategically plan with management the effective functioning of MJH departments, including development of organizational charts and position descriptions
    • Maintain successful employee relationships across the Museum through performance management, conflict resolution, and discipline as needed
    • Initiate, facilitate and refine employee programs such as new hire onboarding and orientation, professional development and Internship programs
    • Lead with recruitment activities and all aspects of the Selection Process from job posting to screening and scheduling interviews
    • Prepare employment documents such as offer letters and termination notices
    • Facilitate employee benefit enrollments and maintain benefit records
    • Ensure Human Resource compliance tasks, including EEO reporting and policy updates
    • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive HR-related information
    • Leads in the Collective Bargaining and Labor Relations efforts of the Museum
    • Ensure payroll and its adjustments are accurately processed on time
    • Advise and coach managers and leaders on performance management, conflict resolution, progressive discipline, and termination procedures.
    • Conduct and oversee complex workplace investigations, ensuring impartiality, confidentiality, and compliance with legal and ethical standards.

    Administration

    • Serve as liaison with attorneys, insurance brokers, Board of Directors, and vendors
    • Ensure contract compliance for the Museum by drafting (when necessary), reviewing, liaising with lawyers, executing, and filing all contracts
    • Manage the insurance renewal and claims processes in collaboration with external brokers
    • In collaboration with the President & CEO, craft and enforce administrative policies and procedures

    Requirements:

    • Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills
    • Minimum of 5 years direct experience in the Human Resources field at a managerial level, preferably in a non-profit and union environment
    • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employee laws and regulations
    • Proficient in MS 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.) as well as HR systems (Paycom, Bernie, etc.)
    • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational abilities
    • Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
    • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Must have the legal right to work in the U.S.
    • Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines

    Position Details:

    • Reports to: President & CEO
    • Direct Report: Manager of Human Resources
    • Salary compensation range $110,000-$130,000 with generous benefits
      • Full-Time, 40 hours a week with hybrid schedule available after 90 days
