    Description

    Collective REMAKE is a democratically run non-profit (501C3) implementing Co-operative Education and Development (CEAD) programming in South Los Angeles with communities impacted by high rates of incarceration.

    The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Collective REMAKE office and organizational hubs, ensuring cooperative processes and procedures and collaborative workflows.

    As a worker-led non-profit, new hires at Collective REMAKE will become part of the democratic decision-making process. Workers take responsibility for specific tasks, based on collectively defined job descriptions and participate in building the broader vision of the organization. All workers are part of operational conversations on a daily basis. New hires will participate in a one-year orientation and training period before becoming a voting worker member.

    Responsibilities

    Administrative Oversight (80%)

    • Support planning and coordinate daily operations to ensure efficient workflow.
    • Attend weekly staff meetings.
    • Facilitate communication to ensure everyone is informed and connected.
    • Manage organizational calendar, events, programming invitations, and Zoom events.
    • Support and manage relationships with external vendors and contractors to ensure seamless partnerships.
    • Support the development and implementation of standardized operating procedures and policies to enhance productivity and quality.
    • Other tasks as necessary.

    Business

    • Bookkeeping: Record all financial transactions, including expenses, income, payroll, and other financial activities, like monthly bookkeeping and reconciliation.
    • Monitor all grant-related expenses to ensure alignment with the approved budget.
    • Run payroll reports, State Fund compensation reports, and 1099s.
    • Work closely with Collective REMAKE staff to support the management of operational budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations.
    • Support license, registration, and tax-related documentation, recording, and compliance.

    Social Media

    • Manage online presence for developing co-operatives on social media (Instagram and Facebook), website (WordPress), and e-newsletter (Constant Contact).

    Office Management

    • Ensure the office is open and accessible during business hours.
    • Manage office facilities, ensuring that all office supplies, equipment, and resources are available and in working order, including management of Collective REMAKE’s communal computer lab.

    Programming (15%)

    • Support the needs of developing co-operatives.
    • Participate in restorative justice training and programming sessions.
    • Support CEAD programming set-up, coordination, and facilitation when needed.
    • Support outreach and recruitment of participants.
    • Support evaluation and assessment of program data and reporting.

    Fundraising (5%)

    • Collect and analyze data related to program activities funded by the grant to track progress toward goals.
    • Assist with grant research and grant reporting related to co-operative development projects.
    • Attend meetings and webinars with potential funders.
    • Support crowdfunding campaigns and fundraising initiatives.

    The tasks and responsibilities related to the Operations Manager position may change as the organization and hubs develop.

    Qualifications

    • Deep understanding and active adherence to Co-operative Principles and Values and the Principles of Sustainability.
    • Experience mediating and de-escalating conflict within teams, particularly in a co-operative or collaborative environment.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to provide social-emotional support to worker members.
    • Experience working with people and communities impacted by incarceration.
    • Experience with trauma-informed care and healing-centric engagement approaches.
    • Advanced experience with Google Drive, Zoom, WordPress, Constant Contact (or like email marketing platforms), Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, social media platforms, and Quickbooks.
    • Knowledge of Adobe Design Suite is a plus.
    • Working Spanish proficiency is a plus.
    • Physical requirements: Physical strength and stamina to perform tasks that require manual labor, such as transporting equipment or materials, and setting up workstations.
    • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 25 pounds, with knowledge of proper lifting techniques to prevent injury.
    • Tolerance for working in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind, with appropriate protective gear.
    • Evidence of legal driver’s license and insurance to drive to various locations around Los Angeles County. *Ability to drive different types of vehicles (moped, trucks, etc.), a plus.

    Schedule

    This is a full-time position. Hours will fluctuate based on programming and events. We plan for a start date in mid to late January.
