    Description

    OLC is a legal services program committed to achieving justice for the low-income communities of Oregon by providing a full range of the highest quality civil legal services. OLC operates eleven offices around the state. It has a litigation support unit, legislative advocacy unit, and statewide farmworker program.

    POSITION: Oregon Law Center (OLC) seeks a full-time information technology (IT) Help Desk Technician to work as part of a team supporting technology needs for a statewide civil legal aid organization. The position is of limited duration through December 31, 2025.Continued employment beyond this date depends on continued funding. This is a hybrid position requiring two or more days per week in our Portland Administrative Office.

    RESPONSIBILITIES: The IT Help Desk Technician will work as part of a three-person IT team, under the direction of the Director of IT. This position will work directly with staff at all levels, serving as the first point of contact for IT guidance, solutions and troubleshooting. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

      • Provide first line support for employee IT requests, handling tickets by phone and e-mail.
      • Resolving or escalating help desk tickets in a timely manner.
      • Providing technical support and troubleshooting for both hardware and software issues. (peripherals)
      • Set-up and configuration of equipment for employee use, including installation of hardware, operating systems and software.
      • Occasional travel to one of OLC’s eleven office locations throughout the State of Oregon.
      • Maintenance of detailed daily records and reports of communications, resolutions and troubleshooting responses to help desk tickets
      • Installation and ongoing support for hardware, including VOIPs, printers/scanners, desktops, laptops and computer peripherals.
      • Identifying process and system improvements for increased efficiency.
      • Maintenance of software and hardware inventory – including cleanup projects, equipment decommissioning and recycling.
      • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

      • High school diploma or equivalent
      • Experience in providing diagnostic troubleshooting in person, with remote access tools, and over the phone.
      • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
      • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
      • Ability to travel to offices around the state.
      • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
      • Ability to triage and prioritize work requests.
      • A proactive approach to learning new technologies and improving processes.
      • Ability to take delivery of, assemble, disassemble, and ship computer equipment.
      • Experience with the following platforms and tools:
      • Adobe Acrobat
      • Microsoft Office Suite
      • Virtual Meeting Platforms, including Zoom, Teams and WebEx
      • VOIP systems (e.g. Ring Central and ZAC)
      • Windows Network
      • Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service.
      • Experience working with employees with varying technical skills and abilities.

    Preferred Qualifications:

      • Experience in customer service settings
      • 2-4 years of hands-on experience with IT
      • Spanish language ability helpful

    The salary scale ranges from $44,000 to $68,000, and placement on the scale is determined by years of relevant experience. Additional compensation for bilingual ability. 35-hour work week and competitive benefits package, which includes individual and family health, vision and dental insurance coverage, employer retirement contribution, generous paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, and paid moving expenses, among others.
