    Description

    Pilipino Workers Center is looking for 2 Part-Time Community Health Navigators. This is a grant-funded, temporary position until the end of August 2025 aimed to facilitate the dissemination of information and provide/refer services on emerging public health issues. THe Community Health Navigators(CHN) helps bridge community members to health and social services information to enable them to access the services they need. They will be trained to be knowledgeable about Public Health campaigns and services provided by LA county and other organizations and organize the community to successfully access community resources as well as introduce them to the PWC community.

    Duties and Tasks:

      Conduct outreach activities (community canvassing, presentations, tabling at local events, etc.) to disseminate information about COVID-19, how it spreads, as well as prevention strategies and to hand out PPE; provide health education around wildfire prevention and accessing community resources.

        Provide education materials and conduct workshops on vaccine safety, the different types of vaccines available and vaccination process

          Assist community members with registering for COVID-19 vaccine appointments through one-on one support and community events

            Maintain and distribute an up-to-date list of available health services, including social services, health insurance coverage and other services

              Provide outreach, education, and promotion for emerging public health campaigns as directed by Public Health

                Train and coordinate with the PWC Neighborhood Caring Communities to enable volunteers to know about and how to access the County’s programs and services

                  Assist community members affected by wildfires and/or other natural disasters

                    Refer and collaborate with other PWC programs and services to achieve PWC’s larger goals of community and worker empowerment

                      Transport community members to meetings, events and/or service appointments

                        Prepare outreach materials

                          Help set up for community events

                            Phone banking

                              Follow up referrals to ensure services were provided

                                Assist in organizing activities within the community

                                  Administrative tasks such as recording, logging and documenting outreach activities and interactions

                                    Other duties and functions as determined by the organizational needs

                                    Required Skills and Qualifications:

                                    • At least six (6) months of experience working with the public or with community groups performing duties, such as interviewing clients or community members concerning health or social services matters, answering questions, and providing information about health, mental health and social services to community members
                                    • Outstanding communication skills
                                    • Ability to do research and distill information in practical and understandable language to the listener
                                    • Ability to drive and work at different locations within the county, with valid driver’s license
                                    • Ability to converse and communicate in English and Tagalog
                                    • Possess basic computer skills including data entry and quickly learn/adopt applications
