    Description

    Position Description: The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) is seeking a Membership and Development Coordinator, who will be responsible for supporting the organization’s membership and development objectives. This position reports directly to the Director of Membership Engagement.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Membership Coordination and Support:

    • Serve in frontline capacity to address questions from members, staff, and NACD volunteer leadership regarding NACD’s memberships and member services
    • Coordinate the quarterly membership mailing each fiscal year, including database management, invoicing and creating or updating support materials
    • Ensure NACD website accurately reflects membership services, and provides timely and relevant information regarding new and existing memberships
    • Regularly contribute content regarding NACD’s membership services for our publications and blogs, and partner organization’s communications
    • Support the planning and implementation of membership events, webinars, and special programs, ensuring a high-quality experience for attendees.
    • Provide accurate and timely monthly reporting of membership revenue, as well as membership update reports, to the Board of Directors, staff and officers
    • Work with the NACD’s Finance and Operations team to maintain accurate membership database in NACD’s CRM system

    Development Coordination and Support:

    • Support Director of Membership Engagement and other staff in seeking out and cultivating individual donors and event exhibitor/sponsors
    • Manage the exhibitor and sponsor event planning aspect of the NACD Annual Meeting
    • Responsible for the administrative tasks related to sponsorships and donations for specific programs (e.g., Friends of NACD)
    • Collaborate with NACD’s Communications Team to create compelling materials to describe programmatic impact to donors and sponsors
    • Prepare correspondence and generate mailings to donor and sponsor prospects
    • Track and analyze donor engagement to assess the effectiveness of development strategies and inform future initiatives

    Perform all related duties in coordination with Director of Membership Engagement that advance NACD’s membership and development objectives.

    Required Skills/Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field
    • At least 2-3 years of relevant membership and/or development experience
    • Experience managing large databases and knowledge of web-based, relationship management programs
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details
    • Strong customer service and leadership skills, and ability to coordinate initiatives focused on member needs
    • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, with mandatory attendance at NACD’s Annual and Summer Meetings

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience with and/or knowledge of conservation districts, agriculture, or environmental issues
    • Interest in collaborative and partnership-based programs, and ability to work effectively in highly matrixed teams
    • Past fundraising experience in planned or cultivated giving programs; experience working with corporate or foundation partners

    Location: This position is based out of the NACD’s headquarters office in Washington, D.C. and reports to the Director of Membership Engagement. Currently, NACD is operating on a hybrid working schedule with two days in the office and three days remote.
