    Action Center on Race and the Economy / Bargaining for the Common Good

    The Action Center on Race and the Economy (ACRE) and ACRE Institute drive campaigns that seek to create a more racially and economically just society that values people over profit and supports the full inclusion and leadership of Black, brown, and poor people in our democracy and economy. Bargaining for the Common Good (BCG) is the organizing arm of ACRE and ACRE Institute.

    The Campaign Director will report to one of the Managing Directors of Campaigns and Organizing.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead BCG Campaigns in a subset of key geographies, growing the number of community organizations and labor unions running BCG campaigns. Campaign directors and organizers split geographies based on location, experience, and existing relationships, with direction from the Managing Directors of Campaigns and Organizing.
    • Coach and Train Leaders throughout the BCG network to build campaigns that incorporate the five key elements of common good campaigns: expanding the scope of bargaining beyond wages and benefits, engaging partners in issue development and bargaining campaigns, centering racial justice, exposing bad actors, and building high-participation unions and community organizations.
    • Solicit & Engage New Leads from unions and community groups who are not currently running BCG campaigns but are interested in learning more or incorporating more BCG elements and strategy into their work.
    • Recruit & Develop BCG Leaders from key geographies to participate in national BCG strategy and alignment building .
    • Lead BCG Trainings & Workshops for national and local unions and community organizations, with strategic support and guidance from the Education Director.

    Qualifications:

    • A strong commitment to progressive social change and racial justice and a passion for ACRE-BCG’s vision and mission
    • At least 10 years of experience organizing for social change, including:
      • At least 5 years of union organizing, worker center, or labor/community coalition experience, ideally at a union that has run BCG campaigns
      • At least 5 years focused on strategic corporate campaigns
      • At least 5 years leading or coaching staff
    • Deep and demonstrated commitment to anti-racist practices and successful track record of establishing credibility and trust with a predominantly women of color staff
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in politically sensitive and high-pressure environments
    • Strong critical thinking skills
    • Effective time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple tasks, with light supervision
    • Willingness to work long and irregular hours and travel when needed
    • A good sense of humor
