What We Seek:
The University of New Mexico Foundation is seeking a talented individual to manage the accounting functions of the UNM Foundation, including general accounting, accounts payable, payroll, and endowment accounting; prepare financial statements, audit work papers, and other analyses and reports as requested; recommend fiscal policies, internal control policies and procedures, and implements changes if approved; and one who will be responsible for supervising a discrete department or program.
What We Require:
The selected individual must be able to exercise broad supervision over fiscal activity to ensure the following: financial transactions are recorded in accordance with all applicable laws, policies, and generally accepted accounting procedures; Foundation assets are properly identified and safeguarded through the enforcement of proper internal controls; and operational needs are promptly addressed; other requirements include, but are not limited to: recording transactions within the endowment investment portfolio and prepares reports, as requested; maintaining and recommending departmental structure and staffing to accomplish the organization's goals and objectives; overseeing recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of staff; reviewing changing state and federal laws, GASB pronouncements, procedures and accounting practices and recommends changes in accordance with UNM Foundation policies; providing leadership in the design, development, training, and use of the financial reporting system; maintaining confidentiality of financial and donor information; managing IRS form 990 and annual audit processes; prepares related work papers; facilitating a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures, backgrounds, and/or belief; and contributing to the overall success of the Foundation by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
The minimum education and experience required:
What We Prefer:
Experience in higher education, non-profit, or endowment management.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience.
Compensation Salary Range:
$76,000 – $108,000
Note: Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
