    Description

The New Jersey Innocence Project at Rutgers Law School is seeking a skilled and passionate managing attorney for our nascent and still small (but mighty!) team. Launched in 2022, NJIP is the first New Jersey-based member organization of the Innocence Network. The project is housed within the law school's clinical program, with an enthusiastic staff and network of pro bono partners. The Managing Attorney will provide legal representation and informal advocacy to wrongfully convicted clients seeking exoneration and other forms of post-conviction relief; oversee the project’s case screening and investigation processes; collaborate with pro bono partners; work with an already-established Advisory Board; participate in statewide justice reform initiatives and community education efforts; and, in collaboration with the director, seek sources of external funding. The successful candidate will be resident in the law school's Newark or Camden location, depending on their preference. This is a great opportunity for an experienced innocence litigator to expand the reach of a relatively new project with the benefit of university backing and support.
