Lead Brown’s Promise’s work in Massachusetts to:
- Build a multi-year, coalition-based strategy to advance integrated, well resourced schools for all students, with a specific focus on students of color, students from low-income families, and other historically underserved students.
- Execute that strategy, including but not limited to:
- Partnership and Coalition Building: identify and secure core coalition partners with demonstrated capacity to engage with elected officials as well as families, students, and voters in communities across the state;
- Community Engagement and Fact Finding: including, but not limited to, organizing statewide listening sessions designed to (a) build understanding of segregation and inequities in MA schools today; (b) raise awareness of promising policy solutions; (c) build momentum toward statewide advocacy; (d) collect facts to use as basis for legal action and policy reform; (e) inform policy agenda; and (f) identify potential plaintiffs;
- Policy Advocacy: support coalition members in identifying and advancing policy solutions via legislative and executive policy advocacy;
- Communications: plan and execute communications and messaging strategy including earned media aligned to every stage of litigation.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications (not all required):
- Track record of leading successful policy advocacy, campaign building, etc in Massachusetts within the last ten years;
- Knowledge of education policy;
- Community organizing experience;
- Experience with litigation, including affirmative, impact, or class action;
- A demonstrated commitment to racial, social, and economic justice.
Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are highly preferred for this position. Location: anywhere in Massachusetts; Boston not required.
