    Description

    Job Description:

    The Member Engagement Specialist will play a vital role in membership strategy and support by working closely with the Executive Director to develop and implement strategies to attract, retain, and engage MLA members. This position will onboard new members, manage the membership database, and spearhead communication initiatives. This role requires strong organization, communication, and technical skills to ensure that MLA members stay informed of the benefits and value of their membership. It will also support MLA’s strategic initiatives related to membership growth, professional development, and advocacy.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for MLA members, addressing inquiries, troubleshooting access, and providing support and training across community platforms
    • Manage member communications via email, monthly newsletter, and other digital channels
    • Assist with scheduling and coordinating professional development programming, including follow-up communication with attendees and presenters and compiling CEUs and evaluation data
    • Track, analyze, and report on platform usage and other member engagement data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement
    • Collaborate with MLA committees to align engagement strategies and organizational goals
    • Other duties as assigned

    Benefits:

    Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays. Annual stipend for health insurance.

    Pay:

    $25/hour

    Schedule:

    30 hours a week; flexible weekday schedule

    Location:

    Baltimore/Hybrid

    Qualifications & Skills:

    Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (preferred), or relevant professional experience.

    • Proficient with word processing, database, and spreadsheet software
    • Excellent customer service skills and experience providing customer service in-person, over the phone, and through written communications
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
    • Experience working effectively as part of a team to achieve common goals and objectives
    • Ability to travel to out-of-town annual conference and other large events (typically one to two events annually)
