The 12-person research team produces a variety of products, such as fact sheets, longer reports, blog posts, peer-reviewed journal articles, interactive data tools, and more. This position will report to the SVP for Law and Policy.

    • Manage the team, budget, hiring, and strategic planning of Everytown’s research department

    • Oversee production of research reports, fact sheets, and other products, and provide rigorous review of all products for methodological rigor and accuracy
    • Communicate research findings as principal spokesperson for Everytown’s research in the media as well as at conferences and in presentations
    • Build partnerships with academic institutions, gun violence prevention researchers, and other stakeholders across the country as collaborators, reviewers, and for information sharing

    • At least ten years leading research projects including design and planning of research, with a track record of published reports for a general audience, interactive tools, and/or peer-reviewed papers
    • 5+ years experience in a leadership position, managing team members
    • Experience serving as a spokesperson, conducting interviews with media outlets, responding to press inquiries, and effectively communicating research findings to the public
    • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to translate complex research into clear, compelling, jargon-free language for the general public.
    • Familiarity with government datasets related to gun violence (city, state, or federal) a plus
    • Direct experience in the field of gun violence research is preferred but not required
