    The Modern Military Association of America is the nation’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing fairness and equality for the LGBTQ+ military and veteran community. Through education, advocacy, and support, we are making a real difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ service members, military spouses, veterans, family members, survivors, and caregivers.

    Position Summary

    The Communications and Outreach Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing the objectives of the federally funded grant project by fostering collaboration, mobilizing resources, and engaging stakeholders to create positive change in the community. The position is 50% community outreach and 50% communications and marketing.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Community Outreach and Engagement:
      • Develop and implement outreach plans to raise awareness of the grant project and its objectives within the target community.
      • Identify and engage with key stakeholders, including community organizations, government agencies, schools, healthcare providers, and other relevant partners.
      • Organize and participate in community events, workshops, and presentations to promote the project and solicit input from community members.
    2. Stakeholder Relationship Building:
      • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, including grant partners, collaborators, funders, and advisory boards.
      • Collaborate with stakeholders to leverage resources, expertise, and networks to support project activities and advance shared goals.
    3. Marketing and Communication:
      • Develop social media and web graphics based on Modern Military’s communications calendar.
      • Edit webinars and videos for cross-platform use.
      • Develop and coordinate multimedia campaign content—hero images, printed collateral, and videos.
      • Develop and maintain multimedia library content management system and archive records within Google Drive.
      • Write and edit copy for digital and print materials, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency in messaging.
      • Manage Modern Military’s social media channels by creating graphics, drafting posts, and engaging with followers and commenting on partner organizations content.
      • Track follower growth and engagement analytics.
      • Ensure consistency in brand messaging, visual identity, and tone of voice across all communication channels and materials.
    4. Data Collection and Reporting:
      • Assist in data collection efforts to track project outcomes, outputs, and impact indicators.
      • Compile and analyze data to generate reports, dashboards, and presentations for project stakeholders, funders, and the grant's governing body.
      • Ensure compliance with grant reporting requirements, deadlines, and documentation standards.

    Ideal Qualifications

    Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented, organized, self-starters, team players, and able to produce high-quality work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines. Military experience is not required, but a familiarity with the military and LGBTQ+ competency is preferred. Candidates should have:

    • A degree in a relevant field (e.g., public administration, nonprofit management, community development, communications) OR a comparable number of years of experience.
    • Previous experience in community outreach, relationship building, communications, marketing, and stakeholder engagement, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
    • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to craft compelling and persuasive content for diverse audiences.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and mobilize diverse stakeholders toward common goals.
    • Commitment to the mission and values of the grant project, including equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice.
    • Strong project management skills, including planning, organization, and prioritization.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of grant regulations and compliance requirements, particularly those related to federal funding.

    Proficiency in the following software is a plus: Adobe Creative Suite Apps: Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Media Encoder, and Acrobat. Proficiency in the following software is required: Microsoft Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Drive, Outlook, and Zoom.

    Compensation

    This is a full-time position with a maximum annual payrate of $52,500.
