    Overview

An essential role on Heading Home’s Development team, the Development Associate, Operations and Events (DAOE) serves as the backbone of the team by overseeing all operational processes in place to manage the agency’s donor relationships. You will be joining a fast-paced, collaborative team, where nimbleness and problem-solving support our relational fundraising approach. We have a well-honed set of processes that integrate various technologies to provide our constituents with the most positive of experiences and work as a framework for the DAOE’s position. The ideal candidate thrives in a learning environment, is a master of detail, and is a confident self-starter. As a team, we rally behind one another often, juggling diverse tasks to assist the department in raising more than $4M annually.

    Responsibilities

    Development Operations:

    • Manage Heading Home’s donation entry process: processing gifts daily, creating gift reports, managing pledges, maintaining donation pages, managing peer-to-peer fundraising pages and third-party processors, and working closely with the Finance team to reconcile monthly revenue totals
    • Become a subject matter expert on our constituent database (Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge/NXT), improving donor engagement by conducting and entering research, maintaining constituent records, and identifying prospects

    Events:

    • Manage event logistics leading up to, during, and after Heading Home’s annual signature events, including developing project plans, ensuring the team meets all deadlines, overseeing the full registration process, coordinating day-of logistics, and providing on-site support
    • Support event sponsors by overseeing event invitations and sending invoices/pledge reminders

    Team Support:

    • Assist with donor communications by creating mailing lists for appeals, annual reports, newsletters, event invitations, and other mailings throughout the year
    • Activate and maintain relationships with vendor partners to support mailings, events, and other donor activities
    • Provide general administrative support, as needed.

    Requirements / Qualifications:

    • BA required with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in nonprofit organizations; development experience preferred
    • Impeccable attention to detail and exceptional time management, ability to manage multiple tasks, define and set priorities, and problem-solve
    • Excellent fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and experience working with development/CRM databases; knowledge of Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge a plus
    • Proven initiator with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
    • Affinity for providing excellent customer service, respectful donor engagement, and anticipating the needs of the team
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization
    • Genuine curiosity about people and their motivations
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of client and donor information
    • Must be able to work off hours as needed with an aptitude for teamwork
