    PAN is seeking a Managing Director of Philanthropic Partnerships to build strong relationships with foundations and other grantmaking entities in alignment with our mission, values and strategies.

Over the past 40 years, PAN has been responsible for many successful efforts in the US and globally to expose and reduce pesticide harms to children, farmworkers, pollinators, water, air and soil. We see agriculture at the nexus of the converging crises of our time, and promote agroecology as a vibrant, scalable and sustainable solution.

    Key Responsibilities

    • As senior grant writer for the organization, put together proposals targeted to a variety of funder audiences and needs.
    • Manage the grants calendar and submissions process, coordinating input from relevant staff, meeting all deadlines, and tracking all correspondence with foundations.
    • Prepare LOIs, proposals, budgets and reports for submission to current and prospective funders with input from program and finance staff, that align with PAN’s mission and strategic focus.
    • Work with PAN and PAN International program staff and partner organizations on joint grants fundraising projects.
    • Work with the Executive Director and program staff to identify, pursue and cultivate opportunities, as well as identify strategies for securing new foundation and other institutional support.
    • Help build and maintain strong relationships with funders and cultivate ongoing stewardship and support.
    • Conduct prospect research for new funding sources.
    • Quality check and tracking deadlines of the foundation partnerships of PAN fiscal sponsorees.
    • Maintain foundations and other grants information and relevant reports in Salesforce.
    • Produce and share regular reports on grants fundraising status with the board and staff.
    • Produce grants income projections for the annual budget; assist on an ongoing basis with analysis and comparative reporting on actuals to budget.
    • Create and maintain up-to-date narrative boilerplate vetted by program staff to be used throughout the year.
    • Other tasks as needed to support fundraising goals and objectives as part of the fundraising team.

    What We Are Looking For

    • A multi-year track record in securing grants and maintaining foundation relationships.
    • Experience in writing for advocacy or social justice organizations (preferred).
    • Background or strong interest in environmental justice, food and farming systems reform.
    • Strong project management skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with overlapping deadlines.
    • Ability to thrive in a team environment and work collaboratively.
    • Excellent written, verbal, editing, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Meticulous attention to detail.
    • Track record as a proactive self-starter and a flexible team-player that adapts well to change.
    • Proficiency with Excel, Word, Google Suite and Salesforce (preferred).
