In 2022, Together for Girls launched and continues to host the Brave Movement, a global advocacy movement of survivors and allies working to end childhood sexual violence.

Position Overview

Together for Girls is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Grants and Compliance Manager. This role will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our grant operations—tracking and managing awards, supporting program teams with compliance requirements, and streamlining sub-award processes. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure efficient grant administration, adherence to donor regulations, and seamless reporting processes.

This position reports to the Senior Director of Finance.

Responsibilities and Duties

Grant Management (Post Award) ~ 70%

• Oversee and manage grant agreement compliance requirements for a diverse portfolio of funders including (but not limited to) governments, foundations, and multilateral sources
• Co-facilitate regular grant check-in meetings with program teams and discuss upcoming awards, active awards, deliverables and milestones progress, upcoming procurement plans, grant expenditures, grant amendments and closeouts
• Develop and maintain a process and streamlined system (tracker/calendar) for grant reporting deadlines, enabling easy tracking and monitoring of reporting obligations
• Manage reporting processes, ensuring high-quality, timely submissions that meet donor and organizational standards, liaising with project teams for technical input.
• Maintain organized electronic grants files and records (including grant agreements, amendments, proposals, final approved budgets and budget amendments, financial reports, narrative report templates and submitted reports, report deadlines, workplans etc.)
• Maintain and refine a Funding Life Cycle Procedure outlining the Grants Management process including proposal development, project readiness planning, post award / grant implementation, reporting and closeout ensuring organizational uptake and adherence
• Support the set-up of new awards within the organization’s systems and trackers
• Oversee grant closeouts, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and proper documentation.
• Support grant reviews and financial audits
• Review and negotiate donor grants and contract agreements in coordination with Operations, Development, and Program team members
• Create summary document of key information for each grant agreement for easy access / reference for program, operations and finance staff to enable compliance
• Review requests for extension and other actions requiring amendments and coordinate changes with Program and Operations team members and donors
• Facilitate staff training sessions and knowledge-sharing, equipping staff with the necessary skills and understanding of grants management
• Provide ongoing support and guidance to staff on grant and contract compliance
• Maintain key grant personnel contacts in the organizational CRM

Sub-award Management: ~20%

• Manage and support sub-agreements with partners (government, civil society and UN partners, etc.) in close collaboration with TfG program and technical teams
• Manage sub-grantee relationships, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, coordinating payments, and analyzing spending trends
• Perform risk assessments by reviewing sub-recipient due diligence questionnaires and documentation to verify compliance with donor and organizational requirements
• Develop and regularly update Sub-recipient Policy to align with current best practices and organizational needs
• Guide the process of awarding sub-agreements, ensuring a streamlined and efficient workflow from application to final selection and award
• Prepare and negotiate sub-agreements and modifications in accordance with relevant policies, regulations, and contractual requirements, and incorporating flow-down provisions when required
• Maintain effective communication channels with sub-recipients to address any concerns or issues that may arise during the subgranting process
• Conduct training sessions as needed for subawardees to enhance their understanding of subaward requirements and compliance obligations
• Develop standardized templates, such as sub-recipient narrative and financial report templates, as well as sub evaluation worksheet/s and checklists

Pre-Award / Proposal Support: ~10%

• Assist with review of proposal guidelines to ensure the organization’s ability to comply with grant, financial and other compliance requirements. Flag potential areas of risk as necessary to inform decision making (go/no go decision)
• Lead teaming agreement and MoU development, review, and negotiation
• Support due diligence requests for new awards and fulfill documentation requests from funders
• Support with pre-award donor meetings by providing standardized templates and leveraging historical compliance insights on key donors.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 5 years of related professional experience in grants management
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with funders, staff, and stakeholders
• Understanding of non-profit program management, fundraising principles and donor relations
• A track record in grants management, with diverse portfolios including government, institutional donors, and foundations
• Excellent organizational and project management skills and strong attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize work on multiple tasks
• Comfort working in a remote and global environment with various time zones
• Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to work in a highly collaborative team environment
• Must be, flexible, eager to take initiative, and able to work effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines
• Knowledge of international development, violence or gender issues is a plus.

Background

Violence against children and adolescents is a prevalent and devastating global crisis. Sexual violence is a notable taboo, and often hidden, form of violence. Across the globe, one in five girls and one in seven boys will experience sexual violence in childhood - that’s three girls and two boys every second. Childhood sexual violence takes on many forms and it can happen to anyone.

We need a world where every child and adolescent is safe, protected, and thriving. Decades of research show how effective solutions can prevent sexual violence, with policies and programs to ensure survivors access healing and justice.

Location & Ways of Working

This position is a full-time, exempt, position that will be based in the United States. Applicants should have work authorization prior to their application.

TfG is a fully remote organization with the expectation to travel to attend some in-person meetings periodically.

All team members are expected to be available during the priority scheduling hours of 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.

Compensation

This role offers a competitive salary adjusted to the cost of labor in the city where the candidate resides. Final salary within this location adjusted range will also be determined by the candidate’s qualifications and years and type of experience.
