    The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS) is seeking a Business Development Specialist. PIDS membership encompasses over 2,000 leaders across the global scientific and public health spectrum, including clinical care, advocacy, academics, government, and the pharmaceutical industry. From fellowship training to continuing medical education, research, regulatory issues and guideline development, PIDS members are the core professionals advocating for the improved health of children with infectious diseases both nationally and around the world, participating in critical public health and medical professional advisory committees that determine the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases, immunization practices in children, and the education of pediatricians.

    The Business Development Specialist plays an essential role on the PIDS Foundation team overseeing and maintaining all internal CRM systems, managing a portfolio of corporate prospects, handling logistics for the non-CME programs, and providing support services to the entire team.

    The ideal candidate is a highly skilled business development professional with the ability to provide specialized services, solve complex problems in small professional organizations, and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

    Qualifications

    Characteristic Essential Responsibilities

    Expertise Application: Business Development & Data Analysis:

    • Pulls data reports from CRM systems to inform strategy planning and implementation of key responsibilities to PIDS and PIDS Foundation.
    • Prioritizes and ensures data accuracy and integrity of corporate and donor information in the database including regular upkeep of information.
    • Works with corporate and individual donor accounts, list pulls and reporting, leads, opportunities and corporate contact management.
    • Handles creation of and updates to dashboards, staff training and development and maintenance of SOPS
    • Actively looks for corporate and foundation leads by following industry and business news and social media channels. This includes conducting research and identifying organizational contacts from self-generated leads and leads from colleagues to fill the pipeline with viable prospects.

    Programmatic Oversight, Communication, and Collaboration:

    • Manages donor receipting and gift acknowledgement processes, working alongside the Executive Director.
    • Manages and leads the corporate benefit fulfillment and reporting process.
    • Manages the development calendar, tracking the production timeline for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
    • Manages the coordination for the non-CME webinars, including the coordination of outreach to speakers, rehearsals, the live event and posting on demand webinars to appropriate channels.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Stays up to date with industry trends and best practices
    • Suggests and implements changes as needed
    • Anticipates future trends and implications within area of expertise – shares with necessary parties as needed
    • Provides administration and operational support for the PIDS Foundation and PIDS Leadership Team.
    • Performs duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant area or related field; relevant experience can be submitted
    • At least 2+ years of relevant work experience in relationship management, customer service and/or institutional giving
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and listening)

    Additional Qualifications: (Such as certifications, industry-specific experience and the experience working with certain equipment)

    • Experience with a non-profit member association strongly preferred.

    Travel Requirements

    • Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time
    • PIDS-related meetings: St. Jude/PIDS – March, PAS – April, and IDWeek – October (typically)
    • PIDS Annual Staff Retreats – Typically in February, June, and September
    • End of year Celebration – December
    • Occasional travel for development tasks

    Physical Demands

    • This position requires sitting and/or standing at a desk, prolonged sitting and bending and lifting during travel, as well as extensive sitting, standing, walking, and lifting during PIDS-related meetings.
    • This role also requires access to stable internet, and ability to spend several hours on the computer.
