    Description

    Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL) is a US-based, global public health organization with a mission to prevent 100 million deaths from heart disease and to make the world safer from epidemics. Since 2017, Resolve to Save Lives has partnered with low-and middle-income country governments, multilateral agencies, academic and other civil society partners, and communities to implement policies and programs to treat and control hypertension, reduce sodium intake, eliminate artificial trans fats, and strengthen systems for epidemic prevention.

    Position Purpose:

    Resolve to Save Lives’ Cardiovascular Health (CVH) unit works with partners to eliminate artificial trans fat from the global food supply, increase global control of high blood pressure to 50% and reduce the global intake of salt by 30%. RTSL collaborates with local and national governments as well as global organizations to help scale up proven strategies to reach these goals. The Nutrition team focuses primarily on passing and implementing policy solutions to eliminate trans fat and reduce sodium intake. We work globally with offices in China, India, Nigeria and Ethiopia and projects in additional countries including Bangladesh, Indonesia, the Americas region, amongst others.

    The Program Officer, Nutrition Policy is a key member of the Cardiovascular Health team, supporting the CVH program’s core goals of sodium reduction and trans fat elimination. Core aspects of the role include supporting the nutrition team with knowledge management and management of the global nutrition data within the nutrition team. This position reports to the Senior Technical Advisor, Sodium Reduction and works collaboratively with members of the nutrition team across the organization. The incumbent also collaborates closely with and supports in-country and global implementation partners.

    Core Responsibilities:

    This position will perform duties and responsibilities such as, but not limited to, the following:

    • Develop and implement a knowledge management system to ensure that products are up to date, accessible, known to team members and grantees, and that gaps in resources are identified and addressed.
    • Manage RTSL’s global nutrition database, including identifying and inputting new data, troubleshooting the site, working with IT to upgrade as and when necessary, analyzing the data, and promoting the resource externally.
    • Work with the Senior Technical Advisors for sodium reduction to provide technical support to Resolve to Save Lives’ partner countries and projects across the nutrition program.
    • Develop content, such as reports, presentations, academic articles, case studies, etc. to highlight the work, progress, and lessons of Resolve to Save Lives sodium reduction, trans fat elimination.
    • Support presentations, trainings and workshops for in-country and other partners, as needed.
    • Assist with project management for the RTSL sodium portfolio.
    • Develop and coordinate learning initiatives for partners, such as communities of practice, WhatsApp groups, etc.
    • Work with the Director, Nutrition to organize and facilitate cross-country nutrition team meetings and other cross-team events.
    • Provide other technical, programmatic or operational support as needed/identified by the team.

    Qualifications:

    Education

    • Master’s degree in public health, with a preferred focus on nutrition policy, global health, and/or epidemiology

    Experience

    • Five or more years of relevant work experience in global health or development
    • Experience in working with partners in LMICs
    • Experience working with data or knowledge management systems
    • Experience developing technical materials
