    About the position:

    SEIU Local 925 is looking for a strategic and collaborative Internal Organizer who will work with existing union members on workplace fights, bargaining campaigns, and other power building. Our country has been in a period of sustained attack on working families. We are looking for someone who is creative, dedicated to organizing, and unafraid to take risks and try new tactics and organizing styles. Organizer positions will be based out of the Seattle office. Please note that this is a salaried position, and hours vary according to campaign needs.

    Under direction of a Field Director, and as part of a team, the Internal Organizer will:

    • Develop and grow member leaders.
    • Identify, organize and coach members to engage and lead their fellow union members.
    • Create individual member development plans to further leadership. development, including recruiting and preparing members to be stewards, officers, and other roles in their union.
    • Seek out campaigns and issues that engage the full diversity of our membership, and develop workplans that specifically engage members who are people of color, immigrants, refugees, women, young adults, and/or from marginalized communities.
    • Participate in legislative and political work and engage members to do so
    • Lead and maintain relationships with community allies, partner organizations and labor coalitions on issue campaigns.

    Desired qualifications:

    • Preferred union organizing experience.
    • Creativity and willingness to take risks in a supportive environment
    • Commitment to developing leaders and organizing to win issue campaigns
    • Experience working alongside communities of color and/or immigrant and refugee communities strongly preferred, as is fluency in a second language.
    • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities at once and prioritize appropriately.
    • Good writing skills.
    • Possess technology skills.
    • Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel both regionally and nationally as necessary.
    • A driver’s license, a car and proof of insurance, proof of COVID-19 vaccination required.

    Schedule:

    • Evenings as needed
    • Monday to Friday
    • Weekends as needed

    Ability to Relocate:

    • Seattle, WA 98103: Relocate before starting work (Required)
