    Summer Youth Program Instructor: The Summer Youth Program Instructor will be responsible for leading and implementing activities for MLOV’s Summer Youth Program, which is aimed at youth in grades 6-12 (ages 11-18), in partnership with other program instructors and program staff. The Summer Youth Program Instructor is responsible for the development, growth, and skill achievement of Summer Youth Program participants.

    This is a full-time (40 hours) summer position from early June until early August 2025, with the possibility of extension as a part-time role for the 2025-2026 school year (September 2025 - May 2026).

    The desired start date for this role is Monday, June 9th, with an end date of Tuesday, August 5th.

    Overview of responsibilities:

    • The Summer Youth Program Instructor will be responsible for implementing youth program lessons during the Summer Youth Program in collaboration with other instructors.
    • This role will be required to be in person from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, during the summer program starting in late June. Based on program needs, earlier arrival or later departure may be possible. The summer program runs from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    • Using resources provided by MLOV and/or obtained through independent research and in partnership with other instructors, implement meaningful and interactive activities for summer youth program participants;
    • The Summer Youth Program Instructor will be responsible for providing instruction for the MLOV Summer Youth Program and coordinating with other instructors and program staff on aspects of the program's delivery.
    • Establish rapport with young people who identify as Black, Brown, Indigenous, Immigrant, non-English speaking communities;
    • Assist with program set-up and tear-down before and after session;
    • In collaboration with other program staff, facilitate program orientation for parents and students;
    • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all youth;
    • Adhere to all program and MLOV organizational policies;
    • Support program logistics as needed.

    Ideal candidate characteristics:

    • High School Diploma or GED required. At least some post-secondary studies with a focus on education, political science, sociology, social work, or related fields are preferred;
    • At least 1 year of experience working directly with youth; experience working with immigrant youth preferred;
    • Experience training groups of youth from under-resourced communities;
    • Bilingual (English-Spanish) required, fluency in additional languages is a plus;
    • Is a self-starter, motivated and organized;
    • Team player with excellent communication skills;
    • Possesses or is willing to obtain the following background checks
      • Current check from DC Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) Child Protection Registry (CPR)
      • Current check from Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
      • Current check from Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Criminal Background Check, and
      • Current check from National Sex Offender Registry (NSO).
