    Description

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence.

Each year, 40,000 people in the U.S. die from gun violence. We can change that. No organization has a more comprehensive and systematic approach to ending America’s gun violence epidemic. They say it can't be done. But we know Americans can do anything. Even end this epidemic of gun violence. For we are more powerful than any problem when we work as one. Now is the time to unite people, from coast to coast, young and old, liberal and conservative, fed up and fired up, and free our country from what is killing us. It's in our hands.

    Job Summary:

The Director of Organizing, reporting to Brady’s COO, will lead Brady’s chapter network and grassroots organizing strategy, including oversight and development of Brady’s youth arm, Team ENOUGH. This leadership role is responsible for building a powerful base of youth and adult leaders, supporting the growth and impact of local chapters, and developing strategic campaigns that drive policy and programmatic change and community engagement. This is a people-centered, movement-building role ideal for someone with deep organizing experience, a passion for youth development, and a proven ability to scale power-building programs nationally.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Strategic Leadership & Vision

    • Develop and implement a national organizing strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission, policy priorities, and programmatic goals.
    • Set vision and direction for the chapter program, Team ENOUGH, and issue-based and programmatic organizing efforts.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership on long-term movement-building strategy and intersectional campaign planning.

    Chapter Network Development

    • Provide oversight, structure, and support for the chapter program, including recruitment, onboarding, leadership development, and accountability systems.
    • Build tools and resources for chapters to grow membership, build local power, and engage in advocacy and community organizing.
    • Facilitate regular communication and convenings with chapter leaders to build community, share strategy, and ensure alignment.

    Youth Organizing & Team ENOUGH

    • Lead and mentor the Team ENOUGH staff and youth leaders, supporting them in program development, campaign planning, and leadership cultivation.
    • Design and implement pathways for youth engagement, from entry-level activism to sustained leadership.
    • Ensure youth voices are represented in all areas of the organization and support a strong intergenerational movement culture.

    Campaigns & Mobilization

    • Work with programs and policy, communications, and strategic engagement teams to design and execute organizing campaigns at the local, state, and national levels.
    • Lead rapid-response mobilizations, actions, and coalition efforts, particularly following high-profile incidents or policy opportunities.
    • Track, evaluate, and report on organizing impact using metrics and storytelling.

    Team Management & Supervision

    • Manage a growing team of organizers, providing coaching, supervision, and professional development.
    • Support a culture of care, equity, accountability, and collaboration across organizing teams.

    Qualifications

    • At least 7–10 years of experience in grassroots, electoral, or issue-based organizing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
    • Strong background in youth engagement and leadership development, particularly with high school and college-aged youth.
    • Proven success in building and scaling chapter-based or distributed organizing programs.
    • Deep understanding of community organizing principles, power-building strategy, and campaign planning.
    • Excellent management and team leadership skills; experience supervising remote teams is a plus.
    • Commitment to racial and social justice, with an understanding of how gun violence intersects with systemic inequities.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong preference for candidates based in the Washington, D.C. area.
    • Willingness to travel regularly (approx. 25–30%) and work occasional evenings/weekends.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Lived experience or connection to communities disproportionately impacted by gun violence.
    • Experience working in the gun violence prevention movement or adjacent issues (e.g. criminal justice reform, education justice).
    • Familiarity with digital organizing tools (e.g., EveryAction, Mobilize, Slack, Zoom) and CRM systems.
