About the Dearborn
Dearborn STEM Academy is a Boston Public School and BPE Teaching Academy serving grades 6-12. We aim for all Dearborn students to be prepared to enter a purposeful, wealth-building career six years after high school graduation and access the incredible STEM opportunities in Boston. Through Dearborn's three innovation pathways, computer science, engineering, and health and life science, students are prepared to graduate with the necessary college and career success skills.
Anti-racism Commitment
At BPE, we are committed to becoming an increasingly anti-racist organization. We lead with race because we operate in a country founded on the genocide of Indigenous people, the enslavement of African people, and the oppression of countless others. We acknowledge the role this history plays in perpetuating inequity and dominant white culture and strive to be an organization whose policies, procedures, practices, and programs move toward racial equity.
About the Role
At Dearborn STEM Academy, students in grades 10-12 can take courses at Wentworth, Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, Bunker Hill Community College, and Roxbury Community College to earn college credit for free. Early College Teaching Assistants (TAs) support students with their Early College coursework both during class (two afternoons a week) and through additional “sections” designed to support students in mastering course material (two afternoons a week). TAs are supported onsite by the Dearborn Early College Associate. Although TAs need to be comfortable supporting high school students in academic content, additional training and coaching will be provided.
