    Description

    Position Summary

    The Executive Director (ED) will be the key leadership position at Section 14 Survivors, responsible for advancing the organization's mission, overseeing program development, fundraising, and supporting the Board of Directors. This role requires a strategic thinker and hands-on leader who can manage day-to-day operations while cultivating partnerships and funding opportunities to sustain and expand our work.

    Key Responsibilities

    Organizational Leadership & Program Development

      • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to further the mission of Section 14 Survivors.
      • Oversee the development and execution of educational, advocacy, and community support programs.
      • Collaborate with the Board to establish short-term and long-term goals.
      • Serve as one of the primary spokespersons and representatives of the organization.

    Fundraising & Resource Development

      • Develop and execute a fundraising strategy, including grants, individual donations, and corporate sponsorships.
      • Identify and apply for relevant grants and funding opportunities.
      • Cultivate relationships with donors, stakeholders, and community partners.
      • Plan and oversee fundraising and other organization events and campaigns.

    Board & Community Engagement

      • Provide support to the Board of Directors, including preparing reports and facilitating meetings.
      • Engage and mobilize community members, volunteers, and partner organizations.
      • Foster collaboration with local, state, and national advocacy groups.

    Operations & Administration

      • Oversee financial management, budgeting, and compliance with nonprofit regulations.
      • Supervise staff and volunteers as needed.
      • Ensure effective internal communication and organizational efficiency.

    Qualifications & Skills

      • Passion for social justice, history preservation, and community advocacy.
      • Proven leadership experience in the nonprofit or public sector.
      • Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor cultivation.
      • Strong organizational, administrative, and financial management skills.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
      • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
      • Familiarity with Palm Springs history and Section 14 is a plus.
