    Description

    The National Alliance to End Homelessness (Alliance) is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to creating solutions to homelessness. We are seeking a driven and creative Digital Communications Specialist to join our team. This role will focus on enhancing the Alliance’s digital presence and expanding our online community to further drive advocacy, engagement, and awareness for our mission.

    What we are looking for:

    We are seeking a skilled Digital Communications Specialist with expertise in crafting engaging digital, email marketing, and social media content and strategies. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of digital communications tools and platforms, will be passionate about using them to further the Alliance’s mission of ending homelessness, and will be rigorous in their evaluation. They will be able to communicate effectively across teams, respond to fast-changing situations, and be excited to contribute to ending homelessness.

    What you will do:

    The Digital Communications Specialist will work closely with the Communications Team to develop and execute digital strategies, focusing on email marketing, social media, and online advocacy.

    Responsibilities:

    Email Marketing & Analytics

    • Lead the development and execution of email marketing strategies, utilizing tools like MailChimp to engage key audiences.
    • Track performance metrics for email marketing using MailChimp Analytics, Google Analytics and other platforms; and recommend optimizations to improve engagement and reach.
    • Work across multiple teams, including (but not limited to) Communications, Policy, Development, and Research to advise and consult them on how to leverage ensure a unified e-mail strategy for how the Alliance is communicating with a broad and diverse collection of stakeholders.
    • Advise, consult, and support teams on how to best leverage e-mail platforms to boost engagement and support team goals.

    Social Media Strategy and Content Development

    • Manage the Alliance’s social media channels by curating content, engaging with followers, and executing a social media calendar.
    • Partner with thought leaders to boost engagement and increase visibility.
    • Continuously monitor social media and content management trends to ensure strategies are in line with an evolving social media landscape.
    • Leverage analytics to evaluate impact and recommend optimizations to improve engagement and reach.

    Digital Advocacy Campaigns

    • Assist with drafting advocacy appeals and materials to support the Alliance’s digital campaigns.
    • Assist Policy and Field Organizing teams with the creation of email communications strategies for engaging and activating their lists of engaged advocates.
    • Develop digital toolkits for social media and online advocacy efforts.

    The Digital Communications Specialist reports directly to the VP, Communications and will perform other duties as assigned.

    What a successful candidate will need:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
    • Equivalent work experience combined with lived experience of homelessness will be considered.
    • At least 5 years of experience in digital communications, with a focus on email marketing and social media.
    • Demonstrated experience in creating, executing, and evaluating email marketing strategies and managing social media platforms.
    • Nonprofit experience and knowledge of advocacy or social justice work are a plus.

    Knowledge and skills:

    • Strong understanding of email marketing platforms (MailChimp, etc.) and social media tools (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, etc.).
    • Excellent writing and communication skills, with a proven ability to create engaging, mission-driven digital content.
    • Experience with social media strategy, with a strong focus on performance tracking and data-driven content optimization.
    • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or similar design tools for producing digital content.
    • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
