    About Power to Decide

Power to Decide is a national non-profit, non-partisan organization. At Power to Decide, we envision a world where everyone—no matter who they are or where they live—has control over their bodies and can decide if, when, and under what circumstances to get pregnant and have a child. Our mission is to advance sexual and reproductive well-being for all, with a focus on abortion and contraception. We accomplish this by providing trusted information, expanding access to quality services, and catalyzing culture change.

Initiatives include, but are not limited to, complex evaluations of Power to Decide programs to increase adolescent and young adults’ access to trusted, resonant, and accurate information about contraception and abortion. The Director will be expected to take a lead role on proposals, protocols and data collection instruments, analyses, and dissemination activities.

This position will work closely with other research and evaluation staff, collaborate across departments, and manage relationships with external partners. The Director, Research and Evaluation will report to the Senior Director, Research and Evaluation.

    • Identify and manage external partners to support study design and implementation.
    • Lead qualitative and quantitative analyses.
    • Lead white papers, peer-reviewed manuscripts, conference abstracts/presentations, and research translation products (e.g., blog posts, infographics) to disseminate research and evaluation findings.
    • Collaborate closely with programmatic staff in designing studies and with communications and marketing staff to disseminate findings.
    • Mentor junior research and evaluation staff.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

They value diversity of thought, backgrounds, and perspectives; are collaborative and proactive; and work effectively as part of a remote team/organization. They share Power to Decide’s commitment to health equity and to building a world in which all people have meaningful access to abortion, birth control, and other reproductive health care they need.

    The successful candidate will have:

    • A doctoral degree in a public health discipline (e.g., epidemiology, behavioral science) or a related field (e.g., sociology, community psychology) and at least two years of professional work experience OR a master’s degree in public health or a related field and 8 - 10 years of professional work experience.
    • Demonstrated expertise in sexual and reproductive health, preferably focused on contraception, abortion, and adolescents and young adults; expertise in digital health research also strongly preferred.
    • Experience leading all phases of quantitative and/or qualitative research studies, from study conception to data collection, analysis, and dissemination, preferably in a professional role.
