Since then, we've helped tens of thousands of people benefit from solar energy. We are dedicated to creating a clean, equitable, resilient energy system that benefits everyone - by helping people go solar, join together, and fight for their energy rights.

    About the Position

    The Digital Associate will provide crucial support to SUN's digital presence through email communications, text messaging, and website management. This role will be responsible for building and deploying emails and text messages in EveryAction and making regular updates to our website using EveryAction and WordPress. Additionally, they will provide backup support for the Social Media Manager and Digital Director when team members are out of office. As part of the Marketing and Communications Team, they will collaborate within and across departments to ensure our digital platforms effectively communicate SUN's mission, programs, and impact to our audiences.

    This position is perfect for someone who enjoys the technical aspects of digital communications and wants to help a growing organization expand its online presence. If you have experience with email marketing platforms and content management systems, enjoy solving technical challenges, and are passionate about clean energy, then this position is for you.

    This position will report to the Digital Director.

    Job responsibilities include:

    Email and text communications (35%)

    • Build and deploy emails and text messages in EveryAction for various organizational needs including newsletters, action alerts, event invitations, and fundraising appeals
    • Format email content to ensure mobile responsiveness and visual appeal
    • Maintain email templates and ensure brand consistency across all communications
    • Test emails across various platforms and devices before sending
    • Track and report on email performance metrics
    • Segment email and text lists based on user behavior and preferences to improve engagement
    • Implement A/B testing to optimize email and text performance

    Website management (35%)

    • Make regular updates to SUN's website using both EveryAction and WordPress
    • Update event listings, program information, staff profiles, and other content as needed
    • Ensure content is properly formatted and meets accessibility standards
    • Upload and optimize images and documents for web use
    • Troubleshoot basic website issues
    • Collaborate with team members to implement website improvements
    • Monitor website analytics and provide insights for optimization

    Content creation and support (10%)

    • Assist in writing and editing digital content when needed
    • Format content for different digital platforms
    • Help create simple graphics using Canva
    • Provide support for webinars and virtual events
    • Collaborate with the Social Media Manager to ensure consistent messaging across platforms

    Digital Team support and administration (20%)

    • Provide backup support for the Social Media Manager and Digital Director as needed
    • Input email, text, website, and social media analytics into dashboards and spreadsheets regularly
    • Prepare and distribute periodic reports on digital performance metrics
    • Show up fully for learning and planning and activities, including all-staff meetings, retreats, and strategy sessions
    • Facilitate meetings, prepare agendas, and take notes as needed
    • As a key member of the team, contribute to brainstorming, developing, and executing new ideas
    • Manage your own regular administration, including timely submission of timesheets, receipts, reimbursements, scheduling, traveling planning, and HR paperwork
    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications

    • At least 2 years of experience in digital communications, email marketing, or website management
    • Experience with email marketing platforms, text messaging platforms, and content management systems Strong attention to detail and ability to follow brand guidelines
    • Basic HTML and CSS knowledge and understanding of email and web design principles
    • Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues
    • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate effectively with a dispersed team

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Spanish fluency
    • Understanding of the solar, renewable, or clean energy sector
    • Experience with the tools we use at SUN: EveryAction, WordPress, Slack, Asana, Canva, and Google Workspace
    • Basic graphic design skills
    • Familiarity with web accessibility standards
