    Description

    Capital City Public Charter School is seeking a full-time Development Manager to support and guide our strategy for private and public funding. The Development Manager will play a critical role in helping diversify the school’s funding sources in support of the school’s mission and vision.

    This is an in-person position with the potential for hybrid work. Key areas of responsibility for the position are outlined below.

    This is a 12-month position which is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

    The responsibilities of the Development Manager include:

    • Researching grant opportunities, identifying new potential funding sources for Capital City
    • Managing a funding calendar, specifying deadlines and requirements for grant applications
    • Drafting and submitting grant materials (LOI, grant proposals, and reports) with support from the Sr. Director of Development & Outreach
    • Generating acknowledgment letters, pledge reminders, and solicitations to individual donors and assisting in other stewardship and prospecting activities
    • Maintaining donor database and digital files of prospects and donors
    • Supporting donor stewardship efforts
    • Working with the business department to process and track all donations
    • Working with external accountants to review development revenue
    • Assisting with annual appeals and individual giving campaigns
    • Meeting all grant deadlines and ensuring grant requirements are fulfilled
    • Working collaboratively and supporting other members of the team on joint projects
    • Meeting regularly with the development & outreach team

    Desired Qualifications

    Minimum required qualifications:

    • Bachelor degree in relevant field, Master’s preferred
    • At least three years of development (fundraising, grant writing, etc) experience
    • Self-starter, able to work independently and collaboratively
    • Excellent attention to detail, ability to multi-task and take initiative
    • Strong written and communication skills, including copy-writing, research, grammar, and vocabulary.
    • Strong editing skills and ability to receive feedback
    • Familiarity with Google Workspace
    • Preference for experience with donor management systems, especially Network for Good
    • Commitment to equity and social justice in education

    In addition to the above requirements, candidates must meet the requirements of all hires at Capital City including a criminal background check.
