    Description

    Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) seeks a Social Media Manager to join our creative and nimble communications team and help us defend our democracy. The Social Media Manager position is a unique opportunity to be on the front lines of the fight for a more ethical, equitable and accountable government, while working alongside smart, dedicated and kind people.

    As a leading nonpartisan nonprofit government watchdog, CREW is dedicated to defending our democratic institutions, rooting out government corruption and fighting the influence of money in politics through legal action and communications grounded by in-depth research. CREW is looking for a Social Media Manager who is quick on their feet, takes initiative, is committed to our mission and cares deeply about protecting our democracy.     Responsibilities include:

    • Serving as a primary drafter of CREW’s social media content;
    • Identifying online rapid response opportunities;
    • Working closely with the Digital Director on social media rollout plans for lawsuits, reports and other content to maximize the reach of CREW’s work;
    • Growing CREW’s presence on newer social media platforms including Bluesky and Threads, and monitoring for new platforms CREW should engage with;
    • Managing CREW’s influencer outreach efforts;
    • Managing analytics for CREW’s social media program;
    • Monitoring the response to CREW’s social media posts to hone in on winning messaging;
    • Interacting with CREW social media followers and managing social media inboxes to foster a more engaged online community;
    • Brainstorming digital messaging and content along with the digital team.

    Qualifications:

    • 2 to 5+ years of digital communications experience, including internships, preferably in nonprofit, government, campaign or comparable setting;
    • Experience with the creation and management of time-sensitive materials;
    • A demonstrated commitment to producing superior written work;
    • An interest in government ethics and money in politics issues;
    • A strong background in social media content production, including designing graphics;
    • Familiarity with social media platforms analytics and algorithms;
    • Initiative to identify needs, take charge of tasks and get things done in an exciting, fast-paced environment; and
    • Excellent problem-solving skills with an ability to respond quickly to changing priorities.

    The position is based in Washington, D.C. but will be hybrid with employees splitting their time between working at home and working in the office. The Social Media Manager reports to the Digital Director and Communications Director.

    The salary range for this position is $55,000-$70,000 based on experience and qualifications.
