    Description

    Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of businessman William Brown in 2010 with an unwavering focus on “To and Through College” at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness and mental health. In addition to our college driven academic standards, meals are made on site, scholars participate in PE every day and Social-Emotional Literacy is integrated in the culture and curriculum.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The purpose of this position is to support the Director of Finance by managing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy and timely recording of Federal revenue and expenses, and serving as a bridge to Human Resources/payroll. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of attention to detail, experience and knowledge of financial and HR software systems, the ability to work independently, and an accounting degree. Experience with governmental or fund accounting preferred.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Duties

    • Prepare and record monthly/quarterly Federal Claims
    • Monitor receivables and record incoming payments
    • Oversee and support Accounts Payable / Purchasing / Credit Card Management
    • Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure the accuracy of Payroll Records
    • Validate and record semi-monthly payroll journal entries
    • Prepare Fund and Account Reconciliations and corresponding general ledger adjustments (as directed by the Director of Finance)
    • Contribute to the annual budgeting process
    • Maintain accurate financial data in the General Ledger
    • Review weekly bank entries for accuracy and proper supporting documentation
    • Research unrecorded transactions or errors affecting cash accounts
    • Reconcile bank accounts monthly
    • Provide training and support for cash and deposit-related processes
    • Conduct semi-annual reviews/audits of deposit activities at schools
    • Track and record individual and corporate donations
    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepares correcting entries as needed
    • Work collaboratively with the accounting team to close the month and year
    • Support Annual Financial Audit, Retirement Audit, and 990 Return
    • Provide excellent customer service to Legacy team members by promptly researching and answering questions and information requests
    • Other Duties as Assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required
    • Knowledge of general accounting principles and reporting requirements
    • Experience in School, Governmental and/or Not-For-Profit accounting a plus
    • High Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel Pivot Tables, Adobe Acrobat, as well as general accounting software; experience with Sage, lntacct and Kronos/UKG a plus
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality
    • Self-disciplined and well-motivated; able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to work as an effective team member
    • Excellent organization, time management and planning skills
    • The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm and the desire to learn and grow as part of the Legacy Community

    Work Schedule

    This position operates on the 240-day schedule based on the Legacy Early College centralized calendar.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    • Long periods of standing and sitting and have the ability to lift items up to 25lbs. is required.
    • Requires normal/corrected vision and hearing.
    • Position will require travel.
    • Periodic participation in activities to support Legacy Early College is required.

Position will have periods of extended work week hours, which is required to support both the on going development of the region and the delivery of high-quality education for all students.

    All staff may participate in a 401k with matching employer contributions and have access to the fitness center. Full time staff also qualify for state (PEBA) benefits (medical, vision, dental) and may accrue up to 10 personal days (80 hours) per academic year. 240-day staff may accrue 2 additional personal days, in addition to 5 vacation days per year.
