    Job Description: Speech and Language Pathologist

    Reporting to: Vice-Presidents of Inclusive Education

    Status: Full-time, exempt, 12-month role

    Bright Star Schools is seeking an exceptional and skilled SLP who has an unwavering belief that all students with diverse abilities can and will achieve at high levels. We seek an SLP who can support principals, teachers, and the Vice-presidents of Inclusive Education to manage partnerships with students and their families to ensure that our students and school communities are successful.

    Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):

    • Creating a program that provides high quality direct speech-language therapy services to students according to students’ IEPs.
    • Conducting assessments, analyzing results, and writing reports to determine eligibility, strengths, and concerns in areas of speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, and oral motor skills.
    • Developing individualized education programs for students receiving speech/language therapy services and sessions that target IEP goals.
    • Communicating and coordinating with Vice-presidents of Inclusive Education to ensure school mission, philosophy, and procedures are embraced.
    • Designing and conducting professional development for staff.
    • Developing treatment plans that are strength-based as well as child and family centered for overall educational improvement
    • Ensuring evaluations, treatment plans and service delivery are aligned with school, state, and federal guidelines.
    • Designing and conducting training for parents and families.
    • Supervising and evaluating service provisions completed by SLP assistants. Supervision of SLPAs includes ensuring that they are :
    • Assisting and guiding teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language delays/disorders.
    • Consulting with teaching teams to develop and implement curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies such as visual supports, oral motor exercises, language strips, topics of conversation, and data collection.
    • Ensuring students’ skills are generalized across settings by collaborating with teaching teams and related service providers.
    • Completing treatment notes and progress reports in a timely manner and according to school policy.
    • Managing a detailed log of service provided and services missed due to student or therapist absences.
    • Documenting all aspects of work with students in Welligent according to school and state guidelines.
    • Maintaining an inventory of materials, assessments, and supplies.
    • Maintaining appropriate, confidential, records and providing timely reports.
    • Keeping updated on best practices in speech and language therapy and language development.
    • Any other duties as assigned

    Organizational/Administrative:

    • Report special education related statistics as they become available
    • Inputs information related to service provision in Welligent
    • Support the maintenance the confidential files for special education students
    • Participate in determining appropriate classroom placement for incoming and transitioning students

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • California Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential or a Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential in Language Speech and Hearing.
    • Successful manager of an urban speech and language therapy setting who has used structure and high expectations to drive student success
    • Experienced SLP with demonstrated quantifiable and objective student performance gains with English Language Learners
    • Ability to work with a variety of learning abilities, including those with special needs and low skill level in various classroom settings
    • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team, especially with parents and community members
    • Analytical problem solver
    • Basic understanding of data analysis
    • Minimum two years speech and language pathologist experience

    Salary and Benefits:

    Salary: $100,000 - $120,000/year (depends on education and experience)

    Status: Full Time, Exempt, 12-month role

    Start Date: An exceptional candidate will assume a full time role on July 1st, 2025
