    Description

    The Seattle PlayGarden is a private non-profit, operating in a public park with accommodating play spaces and inclusive, year-round programs for children, youth and adults with disabilities- including nature based preschool and summer camp. After seven years having supported employment opportunities at the PlayGarden, we are pleased to announce that we are looking for a new member to join the PlayGarden team as a full-time onsite job coach at the PlayGarden. The Job Coach reports to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with the program, administrative and maintenance teams.

    In this role you will support adults with disabilities in developing and strengthening their work skills and promoting their independence.

    Job tasks:

    • Create and implement personalized employment plans based on an employee's skills, strengths, and career goals
    • Provide individual and small group coaching with multiple supported employment staff members in a range of tasks and environments
    • Collaborate with the teaching, administrative and landscaping teams around tasks, training and job growth
    • Assess and improve upon existing organizational systems to foster independence and accessibility
    • Maintain clear and accurate records and document time spent per staff member
    • Evaluate staff’s performance and adjust coaching as indicated
    • Communicate regularly and reliably with all staff members, colleagues and families

    Job Requirements:

    • Ability to relate to a diverse set of situations and individuals in a lively youth program setting
    • Experience working with individuals with disabilities. Preferred experience with teaching skills and coaching adults with disabilities in an employment setting
    • Comfortable working outdoors, around animals, in all weather conditions and supporting employees to complete physical tasks around the garden and classroom.
    • Self-directed and can work independently and as a part of a small team
    • Comfortable engaging in collaborative and creative problem solving with our team of staff
    • Ability to constructively give and thoughtfully receive feedback
    • Has an understanding of how to cook simple meals (quesadillas, pasta, simple baked goods), clean and organize materials (wash dishes, fold laundry, organize art supplies), and basic awareness of garden maintenance (sweeping, mowing, raking)
    • Proficient in word processing and written and verbal communication
    • High school diploma or GED
    • Ability to pass a Washington State background check
