    Your Role

    As a Philanthropy Manager you play a key role in driving our mission to empower low-income and immigrant communities. You will be a vital link between MAF and our funding partners, ensuring clear communication and impactful storytelling around our programs. This includes managing a portfolio of grants, crafting compelling proposals and reports, and building relationships with foundations, corporations, and government agencies.     Desired Skills and Experience

    • Commitment to Mission: You're deeply passionate about social justice and driven to advance equity for low-income and immigrant communities. You're excited to engage a national network of supporters and inspire them to join MAF's mission.
    • Experience in Asset Building and Wealth Equity: You have a demonstrated understanding of the issues surrounding asset building, the racial wealth gap, and financial inclusion for marginalized communities. You are knowledgeable about strategies and best practices for promoting economic mobility and closing the wealth divide.
    • Proven Fundraising Success: You have 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with at least 3 years specifically focused on managing a substantial grants portfolio, including seven-figure grants. You possess a strong track record of securing funding from corporations, foundations, and government agencies. Experience with high-net-worth individuals and familiarity with CDFIs, CRA funding, and federal grants are a plus.
    • Exceptional Communication Skills: You're a gifted storyteller and writer with the ability to adapt your style to diverse audiences. You can translate complex information into clear, compelling narratives for proposals, reports, and other communications.
    • Collaborative and Strategic Approach: You're a skilled listener and collaborator who excels at transforming strategic guidance into tangible results. You thrive in a team environment and possess a systems-oriented mindset.
    • Data-Driven and Analytical: You have a strong analytical approach and are comfortable using data to track performance, generate reports, and manage budgets. Proficiency in Salesforce is essential.
    • Organized and Detail-Oriented: You're highly organized and detail-oriented, with a proven ability to manage complex projects and build new processes. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy taking initiative, and can synthesize information effectively.
    • Strong Interpersonal Skills: You possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and authenticity in all interactions.
    • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Grants Management (60%)
      • Lead the Grant Lifecycle: Take ownership of the full grant lifecycle, from conducting research and identifying funding opportunities to developing compelling proposals, submitting applications, and generating timely reports.
      • Craft Compelling Narratives: Outline, draft, and edit high-quality grant proposals and reports that effectively communicate MAF's mission, programs, and impact to private, community, and corporate foundations, as well as government agencies.
      • Ensure Timely Submission: Collaborate with program staff and the Philanthropy team to gather necessary information, coordinate deadlines, and ensure the timely submission of all grant materials.
      • Maintain Grant Portfolio: Meticulously manage MAF's growing grant portfolio, tracking deadlines, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
      • Champion Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local guidelines for all grant-funded activities.
    2. Relationship Cultivation (25%)
      • Build Strong Relationships: Cultivate and strengthen relationships with a diverse portfolio of funders, including foundations, corporations, government agencies, and high-net-worth individuals.
      • Engage with Funders: Support the planning and execution of virtual and in-person events to engage funders, share MAF's work, and cultivate deeper relationships.
      • Steward Donor Relationships: Develop and implement a stewardship program to foster deeper connections with individual donors, including personalized communications and recognition initiatives.
    3. Strategic Initiatives & Operations (15%)
      • Support Fundraising Campaigns: Contribute to the development and execution of fundraising campaigns (end-of-year and issue-focused) that inspire individual donors and foundation partners to support MAF's work.
      • Drive Data-Informed Decision-Making: Develop Salesforce reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to track grant performance, provide insights to internal stakeholders, and inform strategic decision-making.
      • Optimize Systems and Processes: Contribute to the ongoing improvement of grant management systems and processes, including maintaining an accurate grant calendar and ensuring efficient workflows.
