    Whidbey Island Nourishes (WIN) seeks a passionate and inspiring leader to serve as Executive Director, guiding effective solutions to childhood hunger on South Whidbey Island, WA. This role is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by shaping and advancing WIN’s mission through strategic leadership and community collaboration.

    Located 30 miles north of Seattle and a short ferry ride away, Whidbey Island is a haven of natural beauty and close-knit community spirit. With lush forests, scenic beaches, and a vibrant small-town charm, South Whidbey offers an inspiring backdrop for both work and life.

    About Whidbey Island Nourishes (WIN)

    WIN is a volunteer-powered nonprofit dedicated to nourishing youth on South Whidbey Island. Founded on the belief that no child should go hungry, WIN delivers weekend meals, provides healthy snacks to South Whidbey Schools to support student success, and fosters long-term community health. Through a partnership with the South Whidbey School Farms program, WIN supports nutrition education and culinary classes, empowering students with skills for a healthy life. By collaborating with community nonprofit partners, businesses, and dedicated volunteers, WIN maximizes its impact to strengthen the fabric of its community. At its core, WIN is committed to equity, sustainability, and creating a future where everyone has the nourishment they need to thrive.

    Position Overview

    The Executive Director spearheads WIN with strategic vision, managing programs, finances, and community relationships. This role requires a flexible leader who excels in fundraising, team management and strategic thinking. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and works closely with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure WIN’s mission and sustainability.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Leadership:

    • Support development and implement strategic plans aligned with WIN’s mission.
    • Collaborate with the Board of Directors on governance, goals, and organizational growth.

    Fundraising and Development:

    • Play a key role in fundraising initiatives, including donor cultivation, grant writing, and community events.
    • Build a culture of philanthropy among staff, board members, and community stakeholders.

    Program Oversight:

    • Ensure effective delivery and evaluation of WIN’s food and nutrition programs.
    • Explore opportunities for program evolution and community impact.

    Operations and Financial Management:

    • Oversee organizational budget and ensure financial health.
    • Manage policies, compliance, and internal systems for operational efficiency.

    Community Engagement:

    • Serve as the primary spokesperson for WIN, fostering relationships with local partners, schools, and donors.
    • Educate the community about food insecurity and equity through public relations and community outreach.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management or related fields.
    • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership position.
    • Proven success in fundraising and donor relations.
    • Good communication skills - oral and written.
    • Strong financial management and organizational skills.
    • Proficiency in Apple software and Google Workspace.
    • Passion for food equity and a commitment to community-driven solutions.

    Preferred:

    • Grant writing experience.
    • Knowledge of website maintenance, social media platforms, donor database management, and general technological tools that support nonprofit operations.
    • Familiarity with the South Whidbey community and its resources.
