We do this by building coalitions with leaders and organizations across Texas and the country, build a talent pipeline with leadership development, and advocate for issues that can bring meaningful change for Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities.

    Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt

    Duties & Responsibilities: The Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications, is responsible for:

    • Execute brand awareness strategy amongst prospective donors, philanthropic community, community partners and grassroots supporters through mediums such as social media, website management, email engagement, and earned media
    • Manage crisis planning and rapid response protocols related to current events, policy, and other issues important to the AAPI community
    • Develop messaging for civic action campaigns
    • Develop digital organizing strategies to advance organizational goals and mission
    • Lead organizational email, social media, and website strategy and execution, including content creation, user acquisition, and narrative development
    • Manage staff and contractors who provide social media and graphic design support to ensure goals and project deliverables are met
    • Develop proactive pitches and relationships with media contacts to promote ATJ’s programming and development goals
    • Identify opportunities for op-eds and letters to editor and assist in drafting/ pitching
    • Prepare press releases and host press conferences
    • Build and maintain relationships with media in Texas and nationally
    • Lead narrative campaigns and community storytelling
    • Assist with media training and interview prep for staff and board, as needed
    • Monitor, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of campaigns and communications efforts, using metrics to refine and improve strategies

    Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

    • Three or more years of communications, external affairs, public relations, and/or digital organizing experience
    • Connections and relationships with local, state, and national media contacts
    • Knowledge of the local AAPI environment and community leaders
    • Experience with electoral campaigns or issue advocacy preferred
    • Deeply passionate about equity and social justice, particularly for AAPIs and other marginalized groups
    • Experience working with CRM tools, Squarespace, Asana, and Slack preferred
    • Detail-oriented with project management experience
    • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Fluency in a relevant language(s) spoken within the AAPI community (such as Mandarin, Vietnamese, Tagalog, HIndi, or Korean) is a plus
    • Able to work well independently as well as in a collaborative environment

    Compensation: $60,000 - $68,000, dependent on qualifications and experience
