    Position Summary

    The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences (CEHHS) at the University of Tennessee Knoxville seeks a person to serve as the Program Coordinator for CEHHS’s Cherokee Mills community engagement co-location site. This position helps support implementation of the strategic plan regarding the relationship between UT and Cherokee Health Systems (CHS) by collaborating with CEHHS faculty and CHS staff in developing and implementing engaged research, training, and service programs that benefit both organizations. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Community Engagement in CEHHS with a dotted line to the Associate Dean of Research in CEHHS.

    Job Description

    This position helps support implementation of the strategic plan regarding the relationship between UT and Cherokee Health Systems (CHS), by collaborating with CEHHS faculty and CHS staff in developing and implementing engaged research, training, and service programs that benefit both organizations. To better support the relationship between UT and CHS, this position manages the Cherokee Mills HUB site, which is a co-located space with CHS.

    Responsibilities

    Program Management

    • Serves as a Liaison between the CEHHS/CSW Associate Dean for Community Engagement and the CEHHS Associate Dean of Research and Cherokee Mills Cherokee Health Site and assists in communicating the needs of both organizations to each other; this position reports directly to the Associate Dean for Community Engagement and has a dotted line to the Associate Dean of Research
    • Resolves complex personnel and methodological issues particularly in regards to troubleshooting relationships with community partners, for example resolving procedural conflict or differing policy expectations between UTK and Cherokee Health Systems. This position will make independent decisions in this regard on a daily basis and will require good judgment regarding when to resolve conflicts on their own and when it needs to be escalated to the Associate Deans.
    • Conducts community engagement focus groups and information meetings as needed
    • Develops reports for submission to external and internal stakeholders, such as project progress reports and newsletters
    • Manages/coordinates the daily activities and operations of CEHHS’ Cherokee Mills site location, such as scheduling, communication around space needs, training needs, and necessary paperwork.
    • Schedules and oversees the use of space, resources, and maintenance and repair of medical and other equipment of the Cherokee Mills site location.
    • Manages the security and access of the Cherokee Mills site location.

    Partnership Development

    • Acts as a liaison who organizes meetings and arranges opportunities for CHS and UTK to interact and has enthusiasm for growing and moving projects forward
    • Develops and maintains a database of community and faculty contacts to capitalize on opportunities for engagement and collaboration
    • Incubates relationships and ideas to be developed by partnerships; beyond introducing potential partners, helps develop and nurture partnerships to a point where they can be self-sustaining
    • Attends community events to learn about organizations and discuss potential opportunities for collaboration
    • Plans and executes community events based at Cherokee Mills in collaboration with faculty and CHS partners

    Research Management

    • Manages multiple projects that are focused on academic experiences and research consistent with college and university strategic vision.
    • Ensures compliance with appropriate University of Tennessee academic and research policies and procedures, and either conducts training on these policies for relevant staff and students or ensures that they receive appropriate training
    • Manages pilot studies developed in collaboration with faculty and CHS staff and assists with identification of resources and preparation of grant proposals.

    Program Development

    • Assists the Associate Deans of CEHHS in adhering to the strategic vision for the relationship between UTK and Cherokee Health Systems at the Cherokee Mills site location and with other community partners as appropriate.
    • Identifies resources and develops academic experiences in collaboration with university faculty.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

      • Education: Master’s Degree in a health related field
      • Experience: five years of experience in implementation of health-related programming/research/program planning and evaluation, or ability to demonstrate equivalent type of experience/expertise. At least one year of supervisory experience.
    • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
      • Observation skills.
      • Ability to communicate with faculty and community members in formal and informal situations with an enthusiasm for meeting new people and building relationships.
      • Ability to attend occasional weeknight and weekend community functions.
      • Ability to manage programs/projects.
      • Ability to develop and conduct training on program procedures, data management, research protocols and compliance issues.
      • Good communication skills with both superiors and direct reports

    Preferred Qualifications
