    Description

Help the National Low Income Housing Coalition End Evictions in America!

NLIHC seeks an intern for our State and Local Innovation (SLI) Project for the Spring 2025 semester (January to May). The intern will support the SLI team’s efforts to strengthen tenants’ rights, prevent evictions, and end homelessness.

The intern will track legislation and help update our tenant protections and housing trust fund databases; survey housing trust fund programs and organize survey data for analysis; study and draft a case study on the impact tenant protections have in preventing evictions; help draft Memo to Members newsletter articles on new policies related to tenant protections, emergency rental assistance, homelessness, and housing trust funds; assess states implementation of key tenant protections; and assist with other administrative duties as needed.

The State and Local Innovation intern will report to the NLIHC Project Manager of State and Local Innovation. NLIHC seeks someone with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication (oral, interpersonal, and written) skills, as well as a strong commitment to racial and social equity and interest in state and local policies that can protect renters.

This is a remote position, and a modest stipend is provided. If interested in the position, please submit a cover letter, resume, and writing sample to Sarah Gallagher at sgallagher@nlihc.org and Tori Bourret at vbourret@nlihc.org.
