    Description

    Part-Time Learn and Earn Opportunity

    The ReCARES Network

    www.recares.org

Do you CARE about greater health equity for your Bay Area neighbors? Do you CARE about the quality of our Bay Area environment? If so, WE may be just what YOU are looking for!

Learn to make needed repairs that extend the life of used Durable Medical Equipment. Your work will contribute to better health outcomes for those in need and save our environment in the process. You can make a difference!

ReCARES collects durable medical equipment (DME) from donors and redistributes it to underserved community members at each of our Bay Area sites. We are announcing a learning opportunity that is available for a “handy” person who is interested in becoming trained to assess and repair donated equipment before it is made available for redistribution.

The ReCARES Network, with support from StopWaste of Alameda County, is piloting Donor Stop, a part-time learn and earn opportunity. The program will operate alongside regular year-round program operations at the ReCARES Oakland site. Donor Stop will provide an enhanced opportunity for one person to become trained to do essential repair work and to become part of the ReCARES Oakland team.

The training schedule requires a 6-10 hours/week time commitment and provides one-on-one learning sessions, demonstrations, and videos. On-the-job training sessions are held on Fridays from 11 am – 5 pm, with other sessions scheduled as needed. Training, which can be completed in six months, comes with an hourly stipend and precedes an available part-time contract work opportunity.

In 2023, ReCARES served 8,800 recipients and diverted 28,000 items of medical equipment and supplies from landfills. We are at a pivotal point in our growth, and strengthening our internal infrastructure and operational team is essential to expanding our reach and impact. We believe that building a solid team is an integral part of curating positive work experiences.

Would you like to experience the satisfaction associated with a mission-driven organization like ours? If so, we would like to hear from you. Drop us a line to introduce yourself. Include a resume or whatever you think would help us get to know you. YOU may be just what WE are looking for!
