    Description

    Fall 2024 Lead Locally Internship

Lead Locally is currently seeking paid intern(s) for the winter and spring of 2025 to join our work to elect progressive champions in crucial down ballot elections for the climate movement. We’re a small organization founded in 2016 with the goal of building power in down ballot races that will keep dirty fossil fuels in the ground, and pass bold climate policy at the local level. We believe states and cities can lead on climate and clean energy policy - and can play a critical role in standing up for racial justice, immigrant rights, and an economy that works for all of us. We work to help elect these leaders by working in partnership with local organizations, raising small dollar contributions, and harnessing people power to help turn out the vote remotely.

This winter and spring, we are looking for an intern to help our work with state and national partners to train candidates, get out the vote, and raise money through grassroots fundraising for several municipal and state legislative races that are critical for climate action.

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate recruitment for voter outreach events
    • Research and data analysis to help analyze the feasibility and electoral makeup of candidates and their districts
    • Help track the news, candidate filings, and candidate announcements for key down ballot races
    • Write advocacy emails, texts, and social media content

    Experience

    • Volunteer or internship level organizing on an electoral campaign or with a local or campus group
    • Experience with research or data analysis, especially with electoral tools or databases
    • Interest in climate justice and building local progressive power
    • Management of social media channels for any cause, local group, or candidate
    • Excitement and willingness to learn new campaigning skills!

How to Apply: Please use this form to apply for the internship.

Deadline: We will start reviewing applications the week of Jan 14, and look at applications on a rolling basis after that.

Compensation: The internship will run for 4 months and ideally start in February or March. The compensation is $20/hr and can either be 10 or 20 hours per week (agreed upon hire). We encourage people of color, LGBTQ folks, people with disabilities, people of all genders, and people of other identities to apply.
