    About Generation Hope:

    Generation Hope is a nonprofit organization with a mission to ensure all student parents have the opportunities to succeed and experience economic mobility by engaging education and policy partners to drive systemic change and providing direct support to teen parents in college as well as their children through holistic, two-generation programming. To date, we have provided over $1.3 million in tuition assistance, supported almost 500 teen parents in college, celebrated almost 200 degrees earned through our program, and built relationships with 30+ two and four-year institutions nationwide.     Position:

    The Operations & Finance Intern will be working directly with the Director of Finance & Administration and Interim VP, Strategy & Operations to support accurate financial documentation and processing for the organization. The Operations & Finance Intern will assist in the implementation of administrative, fiscal operations and conducting bookkeeping functions, allowing Generation Hope to best serve families nationwide.

    Candidates are expected to participate in this internship 20-30 hours per week. Interns will receive an incentive of $3,000 for your participation in the internship program. This incentive is intended to support the costs you may incur during your internship at Generation Hope. The intern will be working hybrid. The Generation Hope office is located in the North East DC metro area. Candidates must live/have housing in the DC Metro area.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work directly with the Interim VP, Strategy & Operations to support all aspects of his daily work routine.
    • Maintain paper and electronic filing systems by scanning into Google drive.
    • Handle printing, copying, filing, triage mail and email/messages.
    • Assisting with bookkeeping tasks & data entry.
    • Prepare credit card accounts templates.
    • Attend meetings and take notes of discussion; prepare the initial draft of minutes and summaries.
    • Complete a variety of special projects including creating PowerPoint presentations, special reports and agenda material.
    • Maintain confidential and sensitive information.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Personal qualities of honesty, credibility, and dedication to the mission and values of Generation Hope
    • At least two (2) years of hands-on experience utilizing QuickBooks Online software or similar financial-management software
    • Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as Microsoft Suite, Google Workspace, Monday.com, etc.
    • Knowledge of standard office administrative practices and procedures, organization and strong problem-solving skills, which support and enable sound decision making
    • Commitment to understanding and dismantling systemic and institutional racism
