    Description

    If you are interested in completing your University student teaching experience in a foreign country why not think of coming to Colegio American del Sur (CAS)in Guatemala? You can choose our 2025 school year whihc begins in January 2025.

    We provide an opportunity to work through your student teaching requirements at the level you need. CAS is a Nursery-12th grade school. It is a certified NEASC-accredited American school. It is a bilingual school and the students are all native Spanish speakers.

    We have the perfect learning environment to ensure that your student teaching experience is an enriching one. Teaching in our cultural setting will provide you with a global view of international education. Our technology department is very dedicated to supporting school-wide tech support. They are available to mentor whomever might need certain tech skills developed or enhanced. There is also a fully equipped radio station on campus to use for classroom enhancement. We have IMAC Labs as well as moveable units to go from class to class with IPADS and computers. We also have 3-D printers to enrich planning activities. Support is available at all times to master the use of all our tech tools.

    You would have the opportunity to support English teachers in various grade-level options. You would gain experience in a bilingual environment and learn strategies, that might not have been introduced to you while studying, to enhance learning for ELL students.

    You would be able to complete your student teaching responsibilities from any university program you are currently attending.

    You would be exposed to Spanish and a different cultural environment.

    You would be able to travel around the beautiful country of Guatemala.

    You are allowed to stay in the country for three months, 3-month visas are given as you enter Guatemala. You will have to complete your teaching experience during this time frame or else leave Guatemala and return on another visa entry. (If you would need to extend your time in Guatemala, this could be done by going to a nearby Central American country for the weekend if necessary.)

    Your University must provide the guidelines for credit earned for experience. (The General Director can follow up with all required teacher support and requirements.)

    Our entire team will work with you and provide the support you need to complete your student teaching experience.
