    About the Position:

    APANO CUF is looking for an intern excited to dive into nonprofit fundraising and development! Join our development team in implementing our end of year giving campaign, other fundraising appeals, cultivation events and overall database management. The Development Intern will add capacity to the development team and provide general campaign support, weekly donation processing, event planning, database management, and tax acknowledgment letters support.

    Our ideal candidate is someone who is detail oriented, highly organized, and communicates well. The Development Intern reports to the Development Manager.

      Position Responsibilities:

      Administrative and Database Management 50%

      • Main support for Development Team’s database management: Entering weekly donations, pulling lists as requested, database clean up projects, and entering donor specific notes.
      • For events and campaigns pulling recipient lists from our database including list clean up and organization as needed
      • Lead on printing and sending tax acknowledgements weekly to donors.
      • Be the point person to process checks in collaboration with the office manager and lead storage of all physical notes and letters from each check (Required in-person weekly on Monday’s).
      • Adding constituency codes and updates to donor profiles with incoming donations
      • Creating and sending welcome letters to our donors joining our Friends of APANO and Bamboo Legacy Giving program
      • Assist donation reconciliation in collaboration with the Finance team when needed
      • Monitor and request needed supplies such as stamps, envelopes, and paper
      • Support for Board Thank You Project (Beginning of January 2025)

      General Event and Campaign Support 40%

      • Supporting events including but not limited to, gathering necessary forms form participants, tracking attendance, gathering materials needed and being available during the events
      • Pulling lists of attendees from our database, and updating the attendees list in the database
      • Coordinating incentives during our fundraising campaigns
      • Assist in developing and editing campaign materials and content
      • Attend weekly coordination meetings when needed
      • Attending donor stewardship events, and our main Voices of Change fundraising event in May 2025. Assist with set up, check-in, and clean up for events.
      • Other campaign activities as assigned

      Donor Stewardship 10%

      • Document and flag major donors with support from the supervisor to share with the border Development team.
      • Support with donor relations through email, phone, and in-person communication.
      • Assisting with broader donor questions, through management of the shared Development email.

      Qualifications:

      The Development Intern will have:

      • Strong attention to detail and project management in a timely manner
      • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment
      • Ability to engage and communicate effectively with different audiences including community members, staff, board, funders, and other stakeholders
      • Sufficient English proficiency, as this position communicates regularly in written and spoken English
      • A commitment to APANO’s mission, vision, and values and respect for Asian and Pacific Islander communities
      • Ability to be in APANO office one to two times a week for the duration of internship and attend evening/weekend fundraising events (maximum of one event every two months)
      • Preference for experience with EveryAction, Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or Google Suite
      • Understanding and interest in Development and Fundraising
