SUMMARY

USA for UNHCR, a certified Great Place to Work non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, DC, is excited to announce its annual Internship Program for Summer 2025. • The Advocacy & Community Engagement team seeks a highly motivated individual to serve as an intern. This paid internship will provide excellent opportunities for contributing to USA for UNHCR’s mission and vision. The internship is open to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in International Relations, Political Science, Sociology, Communications, or a related field, or who have completed equivalent coursework and wish to gain exposure to advocacy, community engagement, and event planning. The internship is an in-person 10-week assignment. The intern will be expected to work with the Advocacy & Community Engagement team and participate in various programmatic team activities. This paid internship runs from June 2, 2025, to August 8, 2025. The position is hybrid, requiring in-office work on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and remote work on Monday and Friday. The intern must be available for the entire 10-week duration. The internship is based at our office in New York, NY. Room and board are not included.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the planning and executing of advocacy and community engagement activities, particularly in connection with World Refugee Day and USA for UNHCR’s market saturation campaign
• Provide administrative support for the Sparking Change grants program including organizing grantees for leadership and professional development trainings
• Support updates to the Community Engagement website
• Support collaboration with other USA for UNHCR departments that aims to highlight community engagement work with refugee leaders

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• 0-2 years of relevant experience
• Ability to be a quick and eager learner
• Strong attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
• Ability to quickly learn new software and database programs
• Demonstrates passion; the willingness to go the extra mile and stellar customer service
• Well organized, and proven ability to multi-task and manage their time
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Demonstrates passion for USA for UNHCR’s mission
• Be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully
