    Description

Are you passionate about climate change and the environment? Would you like to be part of a dynamic team of young activists pushing for a fossil free future?

Fossil Free Zones, a project of the Leave it in the Ground Initiative gives visibility to places that no longer use fossil fuels, showcasing powerful and positive examples. We aim to make the end of the fossil fuel age tangible and accessible for everyone.

In this project, we will zoom in on universities in Germany, and we will be mapping which universities are Fossil Free, or have Fossil Free areas within them. We will share our results through engaging content, and with members of German youth and student groups to mobilise more people to call for a fossil free future. Together we hope to make renewable solutions the norm.

You will be working closely with the project coordinator and your teammates to:

    • Screen and contact German universities via email / phone to identify fossil free places
    • Design and test surveys for others to identify fossil free places in German universities
    • Support in identifying and building a volunteer team
    • Support the social media team with developing content on fossil free universities
    • Write case studies of the most notable and exciting fossil free universities

    Requirements:

    • Native-level German speaker
    • Eager to help put an end to fossil fuel burning and extraction worldwide
    • Minimum 18 years of age
    • Minimum 3-month commitment
    • Ready to take on responsibility
    • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English

    Benefits:

    • Networking opportunities with environmental groups across Germany
    • Bonus packages upon completing deliverables
    • Possibility of paid travel opportunities

Our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging:

For Fossil Free Zones to be truly transformative, we know that we must be both accessible and inclusive. As such, we are unwavering in our commitment to building and supporting a team of interns, staff, board members, and partners that reflect, respect, and understand the backgrounds, identities, and experiences of the global population and communities we work with. We value new perspectives, ideas of all sorts, and different ways of working.

The Leave it in the Ground Initiative (LINGO) works at one of the most important fronts for stopping run-away climate change: keeping fossil fuels in the ground and transitioning to a 100% clean energy world. We develop high-impact, game-changing initiatives around coal, oil and gas extraction, in defense of a healthy planet.
