    Job Title: 2025 Summer Intern (Advocacy)

    About TAC: Treatment Advocacy Center (TAC) is a national nonprofit organization based in Alexandria, Virginia. Our mission is to eliminate barriers to the treatment of severe mental illnesses (SMI) such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. TAC provides tools and support for advocacy to individuals and caregivers navigating the complex SMI system through the TAC Helpline and the online Joan C. Scott Community Resource Center.

    Position Overview:

    Join TAC for this 2025 Summer internship and dive into resource navigation for our Community Resource Center. You will be responsible for the assessment of current resources, resource mapping and assisting in the development of a virtual tool to aid help seekers and Helpline team in navigation of TAC resources. The internship is a full-time, remote position for up to 12 weeks. Individuals may work from anywhere in the US.

    Responsibilities:

      • Review current TAC public education resources for accessibility and gap areas;
      • Map resources into flow chart that can be built out for greater access and ease of usability;
      • Research innovative delivery strategies navigation of mental health resources;
      • Other duties assigned to support the TAC Helpline.

    Qualifications:

      • Enrolled in or graduated from a degree program in social work, public health, psychology or other related field;
      • Strong interest in mental health and systems navigation;
      • Strong research, writing, analytical, and communication skills;
      • Ability to organize and prioritize work;
      • Ability to work independently with little supervision;
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
      • Personal experience navigating complex medical systems would be a strong asset;
      • Requires use of personal computer.

    Compensation

    TAC will offer $18.00 per hour, no more than 40 hours per week. Internship available for 12 weeks starting in May 2025. Start and end date negotiable.
