    The Lymphoma Research Foundation seeks a highly motivated intern to support the Development Department.

The Foundation’s mission is to realize the promise of science to eradicate lymphoma and serve the community touched by this disease.

    The Lymphoma Research Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for lymphoma, the most common form of blood cancer, by funding biomedical research and supporting the next generation of lymphoma researchers. With the guidance of the Foundation’s prestigious Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), which is comprised of 45 of the world’s leading lymphoma experts, the Foundation invests in the research and scientists which have the greatest potential to improve our understanding of lymphomas and lead to improved treatment options for patients. To date, the Foundation has funded more than $80 million in research focused on the origins and treatment of lymphoma.

    Through comprehensive disease guides and publications, in-person conferences, and online resources, the Foundation provides education for people with lymphoma, as well as their loved ones and caregivers. The Foundation developed a first of its kind mobile app for people with lymphoma which was recognized by Apple as one of the best medical apps in the country. The Foundation also provides continuing medical education programs designed to increase the knowledge, skills and performance of healthcare professionals who treat and care for people with lymphoma.

    About the Opportunity

    Based in New York City, the intern will have the opportunity to learn about non-profit development and fundraising through a variety of hands-on tasks by assisting with fundraising outreach. This position is ideal for someone looking to gain experience in non-profit fundraising. The intern will work closely with members of the Foundation’s Development team.

    This internship is a non-exempt, part-time, temporary position, for up to 14 hours per week paid at $16.00 per hour. The internship will be from February 4th through May 2nd. This position is an in-person role, and the intern must attend work at the Foundation’s New York City headquarters.

    What You'll Be Doing:

    • Assist the team in fundraising research and outreach, including but not limited to, corporate sponsorships, in-kind donations, vendors, etc.
    • Provide general administrative support to the development team, which may include scheduling meetings, organizing documents, and performing other clerical tasks as needed.
    • Help maintain databases and spreadsheets related to event attendees, sponsors, donors, and other relevant information. This may include entering data, updating records, tracking and managing in-kind donations in CRM, and generating reports.
    • Assist with recruiting and coordinating volunteers for events and in the office. This might involve scheduling volunteer shifts and providing instructions and support.
    • Assist with stewardship activities, such as writing thank you notes, updating constituent records, etc.
    • Create promotional materials like flyers, posters, and digital graphics.
    • Assist in event planning process – logistics and outreach
    • Fundraising team engagement and outreach
    • Opportunity for public speaking during regular all staff meetings
    • Other duties as assigned

    Skills and Qualifications

    • High school degree or equivalent
    • Experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams) required; experience with donor databases (Raiser’s Edge, Luminate Online, etc.) preferred
    • Customer service oriented
    • Strong communication and writing skills
    • Ability to work in a team or independently as needed
    • Ability to effectively communicate with team members, potential donors, and/or other third parties
    • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds

    Learning Objectives

    • Understanding how to complete successful and effective donor outreach and communication through phone, mail, email
    • Greater understanding of non-profit CRM systems and data
