    Job Description

    The Field Representative is responsible for building relationships with our members based on confidence and trust, developing member leaders, establishing a DGA presence on set, and, working closely with our Contracts and Executive Departments, to enforce our collective bargaining agreements and resolve workplace issues.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Regularly and consistently visit members on DGA projects to observe working conditions, answer questions, and provide Union updates.
    • Monitors sets to ensure compliance with DGA collective bargaining agreements and provides contract interpretation and enforcement.
    • Input notes on each set visit and provide weekly reports at team meetings.
    • Attend regular member meetings and provides reports on activities.
    • Staff member committee(s) and develop member-leaders.
    • Gather information on DGA projects.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • A demonstrated commitment to social and economic justice.
    • Willing to work long and irregular hours; requires flexibility in hours and entails out-of-state travel.
    • This position requires a significant amount of driving.
    • Be able to work independently while also being able to incorporate constructive feedback.
    • Candidate must have and maintain a valid California driver’s license, car insurance and a car.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Be able to work independently while also being able to incorporate constructive feedback and to collaborate with other Departments.
    • Analytical, curious, and willing to learn.
    • Self-starter, self-motivated and trustworthy.
    • Believe in fighting for and defending the rights of working people.

    Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

    • Prior experience as a full-time Labor Representative.
    • Demonstrated success assisting with contract negotiations and arbitrations.
    • Demonstrated effectiveness organizing membership participation.
    • Experience developing rank and file leadership.
