    Senior Philanthropy Officer - Institutional GivingAs the official philanthropic and collaborative partner of Grand Canyon National Park, Grand Canyon Conservancy's mission is to inspire generations of park champions to cherish and support the natural and cultural wonder of the Grand Canyon. GCC raises private funds, operates retail shops within the park, and provides premier educational programs about the natural and cultural history of the region.The Grand Canyon Conservancy is seeking a Senior Philanthropy Officer for institutional Giving. This position is a high-level fundraising professional responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing significant financial contributions from institutional donors, including foundations, corporations, and government funders. The officer oversees the development and execution of strategic fundraising plans to sustain and grow grants and corporate funding partnerships, supporting the overall success of the Philanthropy team. This is a full-time, remote (within a 4/5-hour drive of the Grand Canyon), exempt, and a benefit-eligible position. The Senior Philanthropy Officer will report to the Chief Philanthropy Officer and supervise one full-time professional. The position interfaces regularly with the leadership team at GCC and the National Park Service (NPS) staff.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESDuties vary with the workload and could include, but are not limited to, the tasks listed below:Institutional Client Relationship Management:
    • Develop a comprehensive multi-year development strategic plan focused on foundations and corporations and lead implementation and evaluation of plan goals and outcomes.
    • Research and qualify prospective foundation donors by routinely submitting letters of inquiry or other outreach tactics to develop a robust pipeline of prospective grantors whose priorities match GCC's initiatives and Grand Canyon National Park priorities.
    • Manage a portfolio of approximately 50 new and existing corporate/foundation/ government funders and prospects at the five- to seven-figure level.
    • Create and maintain a system of tracking external funders' points of contact, stewarding in-park site visits, and coordinating all high-level communications between GCC leaders and grantors.
    • Brief and prepare CEO, CPO, and other GCC or NPS staff for the cultivation and stewardship of individual institutional funders.
    • Monitor and track all sponsorship/partnership revenue and progress towards fundraising goals, providing accurate reports to leadership and other stakeholders.
    • Maintain ongoing communication with National Park Service staff to ensure park projects maintain up to date information for relevant grant-funded projects.
    • Collaborate with the Philanthropy team to identify in-park recognition opportunities for institutional donors.
    Grant Management and Stewardship:
    • Manage all aspects of proposal writing and reporting processes, including submission deadlines, reporting timeframes, expected revenue levels and status, and achievement of desired fundraising grant goals and outcomes.
    • Oversee the writing of compelling stewardship reports to institutional funders to demonstrate impact and success.
    • Coordinate and collaborate with the National Park Foundation staff for donor cultivation and stewardship of their grants to GCC.
    • In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications staff, pursue opportunities to promote GCC's needs, profile, and reputation by connecting cause-marketing partnerships and other requirements of the institutional giving community while communicating the impacts of grant partnerships and related funding mechanisms.
    • Collaborate with the Finance team and appropriate NPS staff to track park grants and fundraising totals for each GCC-funded project.
    Talent Management
    • Supervise the Grant Manager, who is responsible for a personal portfolio, grant research, writing, tracking, and reporting.
    • Collaborate with NPS staff to oversee corporate volunteer opportunities in the park for which GCC is the funnel.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Five years or more demonstrated fundraising success in securing funds from corporate/foundation/ and public philanthropic donors on behalf of a mission-driven and goal-focused nonprofit organization.
    • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in grant writing and project management.
    • Prior experience in applying strong skills in relationship management, which have led to measurable outcomes.
    • Demonstrated use of fundraising-related software and systems such as Raiser's Edge and Instrumental.
    • Excellent writing skills, particularly applied when communicating with a targeted donor population within the corporate/philanthropic organization sector.

    • Strong commitment to the ethical handling and management of confidential/proprietary donor information.
    • Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimatin,g and fiscal management principles and procedures.
    • High level of integrity and sensitivity in working with a diverse audience of internal and external stakeholders; must be able to communicate clearly, with mutual benefit, and at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
    • Strong leadership and management skills, including assessing and expanding the performance and professional growth of direct reports.
    • Committed to modeling excellence in collaboration, engagement, commitment, and best practice.
    • Experience developing new and modifying existing programs, services, policies, and processes to meet changing needs and expectations; must demonstrate skills in flexibility and adaptability.
    • Ability to handle various special projects on an ongoing basis while addressing the daily needs of the office

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Performs 70% of job duties in an office setting at a computer, requiring repetitive hand motions with the keyboard and other equipment and sitting for up to four consecutive hours at a time.
    • Must travel, including overnight, to fulfill essential role functions.
    • May work outdoors on special assignments, including events and other donor-centric activities.
    • May occasionally work over 40 hours weekly or on weekends and holidays to meet critical deadlines and/or travel schedule requirements.
