    PNP Staffing Group is excited to have been retained by GallopNYC to lead their search for a Major Gifts Officer.

    ABOUT GALLOP NYC

    GallopNYC’s mission is to make the life-changing benefits of therapeutic experiences with horses available to all New Yorkers with disabilities and other special needs. Empowered by the collective support of our staff, volunteers, donors, and those we serve, GallopNYC offers a range of activities with horses specially designed to facilitate personal development for individuals with disabilities and others who benefit from our life-changing programs. We leverage the power of horses to enable our riders to learn new life skills and thrive within their communities and families.

    The organization has an annual operating budget of approximately $2 million, and a staff of 40, including 8 full time, and 32 part time employees. GallopNYC now serves approximately 425 riders each week, in a variety of programs for children, youth, adults, and seniors with disabilities. The organization leverages 18 horses and more than 200 individual and corporate volunteers to operates a therapeutic riding horse barn in Queens. GallopNYC also offers lessons in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, and will soon open a stable in Staten Island.

    SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

    The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for fundraising, donor cultivation and stewardship for GallopNYC with an emphasis on larger gifts.. In partnership with the Board of Directors and the Executive Director, the Development Director ensures financial stability and develops and shapes the organization’s fundraising abilities. This position builds on existing fundraising success to ensure that GallopNYC has the means to continue to thrive as a New York City institution. The role is supported by a Development Manager who will manage appeals, and GallopNYC staff to handle event details.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Works closely with the Executive Director and key directors to articulate and define strategies to maximize financial support for GallopNYC’s mission
    • Raises funds for general operations and specific programs through a variety of strategies, including annual giving campaigns, major gifts, planned gifts, capital campaigns and special events.
    • Develops donors and cultivates long-term relationships with donors.
    • Works with Development manager to ensues best practices in stewardship including tailored and consistent communication and follow up, showing donors the impact of their gifts.
    • Researches major gifts prospects and develops individual outreach strategies.
    • Follows up with donors and potential ambassadors after events.
    • Collaborates with internal and external partners on fundable concepts, budgets, reports and proposals.
    • In collaboration with Executive Director, oversees development related marketing, and ensures alignment within overall communications strategy.
    • Participates in senior team meetings, providing guidance and discussion of organization-wide matters.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum 5-7 years in nonprofit fundraising, with a track record of developing and securing major gifts.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred, fundraising coursework a plus.
    • Relationship-building skills, curiosity, listening, the ability to understand donor interests and match them with GallopNYC’s priorities.
    • Experience supporting and working closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, and Salesforce.
    • Knowledge of trends and issues in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors, such as changing donor mix and approaches.
    • Interest in people with disabilities and/or horses and horsemanship, or background in fundraising with respect to animals, disabilities, health, sports and fitness, or youth development a plus.
    • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills, and comfort with major donors.
    • High ethical standards, integrity, tact, and good judgment; ability to navigate complex demands and personalities.

    LOCATION

    New York City. GallopNYC currently has its main locations in Howard Beach, Queens. Program services are throughout New York City. While the position is mostly remote, the candidate must be able to be on site once per week at the barn in Howard Beach, Queens. Gallop NYC Board and committee meetings and events are generally held in the evenings

    SALARY AND BENEFITS

    Salary, $100,000 - $110,000
