    Categories: Staff The Center for Social Justice provides free legal services to the community while training law students to be ethical and skilled lawyers. The Bilingual Intake & Legal Technology Specialist coordinates all requests for assistance to the Center for Social Justice, including intake by individuals who come to the office, as well as those who contact the CSJ by phone, mail, and online, and provides resource and referral information to numerous individuals on a daily basis. The Specialist develops and maintains online legal intake and community information materials and assists faculty and students with legal technology software. This individual also provides support as needed to the paralegals, students, and faculty, including assistance with translation/interpretation. Must have excellent organizational, record-keeping and time management skills working in a fast-paced environment. The focus of the work will be on the Housing Justice Project, which assists low- and moderate-income tenants. The anticipated annual salary for this role is approximately $50,000. The current hourly rate is $27.898. This position includes benefits.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    1) Screen and manage incoming calls and office visits from clients, potential clients, attorneys, judges, court personnel, and others, for attorneys and approx. 80 student attorneys per semester by fielding them appropriately and relaying written and detailed messages through email. Most of this work will be done on behalf of attorneys working on experiential housing advocacy programs.

    2) Perform initial screening of those contacting the CSJ for assistance and provide referrals when the CSJ is not able to assist. Maintain and update referral resources and benefits information, particularly related to housing. Conduct initial detailed screening as needed, including a determination of household income. Track these inquiries electronically.

    3) Support attorneys and students who are providing legal assistance to tenants with legal technology and other administrative needs, including but not limited to Word, PPT, Excel, Adobe, Outlook, Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Sharepoint, CLIO Case Management, Afterpattern, Dropbox, document management software, and case management software. Assist clients and pro se litigants with technology support for court appearances and other case-related work.

    4) Provide support for law students enrolled in clinics, including maintaining student attorney schedules, maintaining student workstations, coordinating reservation of rooms and workstations at CSJ, and conducting conflict check for all new students in clinic.

    5) Provide general and administrative support, including daily scanning of mail, monitoring supplies in the office, and assistance with Spanish translation/interpretation.

    Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Fluency in oral and written Spanish.
