    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    • RefugePoint has grown considerably in recent years and is poised for further growth. At this critical inflection point, we are seeking a Director of Human Resources to bring leadership and capacity to the HR function, supervise a US- and Kenya-based human resources team, and ensure HR strategies are consistent, scalable, and people-centric across a global organization. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Human resources will:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive HR management strategy for a 100+ employee organization in the United States, Kenya, and Geneva that aligns with RefugePoint’s mission and operational goals.
    • Oversee all aspects of day-to-day HR management, inclusive of full-cycle talent management, workforce planning, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, training and development, employee relations, and labor law compliance.
    • Institute standard operating HR policies and procedures, building upon existing policies and procedures and creating new ones. Bring a global perspective and develop policies and procedures that are relevant to international standards.
    • Supervise and coach a US-based HR Manager, and Kenya-based HR Manager, providing strategic guidance in the core functions of their jobs.
    • Oversee salary and total rewards administration, ensuring policies reflect RefugePoint’s compensation philosophy and commitment to fair pay equity.
    • Collaborate closely with accounting team to ensure integrity and accuracy of payroll functions.
    • Administer and promote optimal usage of HRIS (Paychex) and other systems, ensuring data integrity, privacy, and compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.
    • Leverage and analyze data to inform opportunities for improvement in HR operations management.
    • In collaboration with the Chief Financial & Administrative Officer, address employee relations issues with effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
    • Bring a forward-thinking and strategic approach to addressing HR challenges, taking the lead on formulating solutions that address short- and long-term organizational needs.
    • As a member of the Executive Management team, foster a positive work environment that encourages a culture of diversity, inclusion, equity, belonging, and alignment across a global organization.

    • You are a versatile, strategic, and proactive human resources professional. You bring 10+ years of relevant experience, inclusive of 3+ years in a senior role, with demonstrated skill in all aspects of HR management. Experience working at a global nonprofit organization is a plus.
    • You are a thoughtful people manager who provides clear direction and support. You are experienced in managing and coaching staff for high performance and accountability, and enable others to take ownership of their roles.
    • You are a strategic thinker with the ability to implement tactically. You approach HR through an analytical lens and take a hands-on approach to translating strategy into tangible activities. You bring facility with numbers and leverage data to inform decision making.
    • You are a solutions-oriented and collaborative problem solver. You take ownership of proactively proposing solutions to HR challenges. You leverage HR best practices and innovative thinking in working with others to address problems.
    • You are an effective communicator who operates with emotional intelligence. You translate HR policies and procedures for all staff to easily understand. You are a deep listener and seek to understand others' perspectives and needs before responding.
    • You are an action-oriented, resourceful, and tech savvy doer. You thrive in a lean nonprofit setting with a willingness to roll-up-your-sleeves to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. You are proficient in using HRIS and other commonly used HR and office technologies.

    Benefits

    For Boston-based staff, this is a hybrid position with 2 days/week in office preferred. There is expected annual travel of 1-2 trips to the Nairobi office and, for staff not in the Boston area, 1-3 trips to the Boston office. Staff have the option to work 4-day (10 hours/day) or 5-day (8 hours/day) work week.

    Benefits including 33 days of PTO (combined sick and vacation) in addition to 12 major holidays, 8 weeks of paid parental leave and 4 weeks of unpaid parental leave, pre-tax flexible spending accounts, comprehensive health and dental benefits with a significant portion of the premiums paid by the organization, short-term and long-term disability and life insurance, and 401k plan with match up to 6% after 1 year of service.
